Facebook vs google + (8 posts)

  • From a marketing point of view, which one works better for your business?

  • I don’t find Facebook or Google + to be particularly valuable for my business (I have a career help web site and I offer career services). Facebook is so scattered in its diverse messaging, it’s hard to find a following there and Google+ just seems too new, too small, too random to be helpful.

By far, I find LinkedIn to be the most useful site to build my business. In fact, I came across this statistical information recently: LinkedIn generates the highest visitor-to-lead conversion rate at 2.60%, 4 times higher than Twitter (.67%) and 7 times better than Facebook (.39%), according to a study of 3,128 business customers of the marketing agency HubSpot.

  • At the moment, I find Facebook more valuable. But I’m confident, that Google+ will be the future.

  • I have been very focused on marketing through Facebook. I have not setup a Google+ page yet. I market for a mall in Buffalo, NY. I don’t want to be jumping all over the place with different social media platforms. I would rather focus my time on growing & improving Twitter & Facebook, which is what I have been doing!

  • @claudiapoeckl

Given that Google owns almost owns 100% of the search engines market, that would not be a good thing.

  • Google+ is worth the investment, if only for the SEO benefits it provides when people are searching for your brand and related entities. That being said, although the engagement rate is low, I know there are a lot of folks just quietly watching their Google+ feeds every few days. If your clientele would have been the type to use Google Reader (RIP best Google product :( ), they likely migrated to Google+.

It’s also useful if you’re a Google Analytics user, as everything is nicely integrated.

  • I agree, @courtney_rriI think if you have connected with people on Google+ it can be a great place to stand out since there isn’t as much noise there.  I like LinkedIn status updates for the same reason.  I have people telling me I’m all over the place on LinkedIn but really I only post there a few times a week – it just is more visible.  But Facebook is still where the most people are.

  • @albertmora definitely, Facebook is the winner at the moment when it comes to community building and engagement but when it comes to search engine performance and finding visitors/customers through pure search on internet, i emphasize on Google+ and agree with your thoughts that since Google owns 100% of the search engine, it will surely have major impact on how businesses market themselves in near future @claudiapoeckl. I mean facebook can be seen as a customer relationship tool while google+ may be seem as a pure web marketing/traffic generation tool. I bet if marketers know how to use Google+, they can get more than their expectations. That’s what i recently wrote about in a blog at : http://www.intesols.com.au/cgblog/44/217/4-tips-on-using-Google-to-increase-your-Search-Engine-Rankings.html
