Facebook Sweepstakes Rules (7 posts)

Topic tags: contests, sweepstakes
  • I just can’t seem to find an answer for these 2 questions and I want to deploy a (woobox) sweepstakes tomorrow. Am I allowed to mention the sweepstakes in my cover image and or a FB ad? – thanx in advance

  • So sorry for the delay in answering @mitch-rezman
What I would do is mention the sweepstakes but don’t give any call to action on it like “Enter now”.  I would just say something like Great prizes in our “xxx contest” or something like that if you do want to mention it in the cover photo.

Anyone else have a thought about getting around the “call to action” requirement?

  • Andrea Vahl No worries - I’m playing it safe and leaving our cover photo generic. You can not use an arrow on the cover photo to point to tabs so why bother? I’ve never had luck driving traffic to a tab from the wall so we’re (trying) to run ads to the sweepstakes/likegate page. the reason I say trying is it’s been 20 hours and I have not gotten ad approval. Also none of my admin page links are working so FB apperas to be in the weeds 11:30 CST 12/19/12 – - anyone else having issues?

  • Andrea Vahl - please let the admins know that the site will not save “pasted” text – this has been happening for a couple of days now – thanx

  • From woobox support
Hi Mitch, see section III B here: http://www.facebook.com/page_guidelines.php for the Facebook policies on cover images.  Certain text is allowed and certain text isn’t.   For ads, lots of people promote their sweeps on ads and it shouldn’t be a problem.

  • I copied the text above from Outlook, dropped it into notepad and then SME – the direct paste from Outlook wouldn’t post

  • The ads approval process has been driving me crazy, @mitch-rezman – I’ve had ads take 48 hours to approve.  But an ad is a great way to go.

Thanks for letting me know about pasted text – I know that there is formatting issues with a lot of things here in the forums.  I don’t know if there is anything to do about that other than the notepad workaround but I’ll mention it.  Thanks!
