Facebook sponsored ads (14 posts)

  • Has anyone tried sponsored ads?

  • I read this article in the Wall Street Journal yesterday
    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204662204577199271676522972.html?mod=djemITP_h
and it got me to wondering if this would be a good investment for a company who’s primary business is local.

  • Yes, we advertise on FB. Still experimenting with different strategies, days, wording, images, etc… but so far it’s been pretty good.

Thanks for sharing the article. I love that Zuckerberg said that he won’t maximize profit at the expense of users. That’s what I like to hear :)

  • What kind of page are you advertising about and what kind of results have you experienced @melissaagnes

  • Hello,I used the question tool and created a sponsored ad of the question.Even though the question had nothing to do with social media, it received a lot of engagement. This is a great way to start a conversation and get you business page some exposure.here are the results:

    Facebook Sponsored Ad

    Hope this helpsPC

  • I’ve been test advertising:

a- A targeted website’s landing page (sales page, external link)b- My landing tab within Facebook to get subscribers to my White Paper on developing the right social media crisis plan, as well as to get likesc- My Facebook Fan page to get likesd- I’m about to test advertising a wall post to my current fans to try to encourage and start more engagement.

Results so far (I’ve been playing around with this campaign for a little over a week)

a- Gets clicks, no sales (yet) but subscribers to my listb- Gets clicks, some subscribers and likesc- Tried this for the first time last night (Friday evening and night) and the likes were coming in so fast that I upped my daily budget to maximize on it. So far today they’ve been coming in all day as well (though not as many as yesterday night). However, I am looking for real, engaging fans more than numbers (quality over quantity is what matters most to me), so now I will see how well these new fans engage this week.d- It is set up, but not approved by Facebook yet.

I also test with different images for the same ad, to see what gets the most clicks, and I change up the ads daily.

    Hope this helps :)

  • @localbusinessco This was an interesting link. It gave me some ideas if the client decides to go this route. Thanks

  • @melissaagnes What kind of fan page are you experimenting on?

  • Figured I’d share, let me know if you need more info. Client publishes a niche magazine.

The campaign is structured as such:

    • $500/monthly test/starter budget (started a few weeks ago). Not spending all the money. I push back on spending the whole budget if I am not comfortable going with too broad a demographic. I do understand this would be a problem when working with some larger corporates though (“Spend what I tell you! It’s allocated…”)
    • We are running two distinct campaigns. One is targeting the readership using precise interests. They get sent to a landing tab on the Fbook page. The second is targeting possible advertisers by using the top companies in their industry as “employer.” This group gets sent to a landing page on the website proper.
    • The audience campaign is cooking with gas, the employer campaigns needs improvement. Experimenting with a different page and continually adding new employers.

    Hope this helps.
