Facebook shopping cart app (7 posts)

  • Hey gus! I just came across a facebook shopping cart app, which basically let’s you sell your products from your webshop directly on FB page. I’d really like to know your inputs on this idea, has any of you worked with such an app before? Would it be good or bad for the business?

  • @kund-szovatai My company uses the Payvment app by Lish. It doesn’t generate many sales, but it’s free and we have received *some* sales from it.

  • @Laurel Moring thanks for the info. But are you covered from a “confidentiality” point of view?

  • I use Payvment as well @kund-szovatai and like it.  Not sure what you mean by covered from a confidentiality point of view – the purchases aren’t posted to people’s Facebook timelines if that’s what you mean.  People just checkout using Paypal and it’s all handled within the tab and the application.

I know Ecwid is also a good one.  There are others as well.  But as
@kund-szovatai said, I haven’t seen anyone getting a ton of sales on Facebook stores.  I actually think it’s just easier to direct them to your website to handle the shopping.

  • @andrea-vahl I can’t really be more precise because I don’t know enough :P from confidentiality point of view I mean any issue that can directly or indirectly affect people’s/FB users’ privacy. Will the FB user who is a potential client be required to give some personal information when buying on FB?

  • No, they wouldn’t have to give any information that they wouldn’t give on a normal shopping cart checkout @kund-szovatai  Facebook wouldn’t record any information that they purchased that item.  Really what is happening is the shopping cart is being brought in through an iFrame so Facebook wouldn’t even “know” about that purchase.  You could put some sharing buttons in there but that would only be up to the person who is purchasing the item to decide if they wanted to share.  Hope that makes sense!

  • Yes it does. Thanks for the info @andrea-vahl. This whole shopping cart really seems like a good idea, unfortunately there are not many people who are interested in the opportunity to buy from FB. I’ve done some research and people say that they are interested in socializing with friends rather then buying.
