Facebook setup for countries (5 posts)

Topic tags: country, settings
  • What should the Facebook set up be for a country1) one global page posting using the language/country option 2) one global page with a map with links to local pages like http://www.fb.com/bmwMy thought on 1) above is a very messy About section trying to accommodate many languages and URLs.Thoughts.Jorgen

  • @jorgenpoulsen, have a look at this, which I just posted in this forum.

There should be improvement coming soon with regards to organisations with several locations…

  • @claudiapoeckl Claudia thanks for the link. I already read it. It’s interesting but I’m not sure it answers my question. Thanks again.Jorgen

  • The BMW page is interesting, @jorgenpoulsen.  I think the issue with that is you would have to have an App like that coded.

Heineken has a single page (and looks like they are posting to individual countries) and then has Country Apps:  http://www.facebook.com/heineken/app_315881278482556

Again, you would need to have each of those Apps coded. It looks like some Pages have their own for each country like Citi – but I think it gets confusing:http://www.facebook.com/citiindia http://www.facebook.com/citi http://www.facebook.com/citibank And cumbersome to update if you have the same information for all pages.  Ultimately there are a lot of pages doing different things so I think it’s just up to you to decide.  Will it be easy for each country to find each page?  Would you have one main page and separate country pages?  Tough decisions!

I’m a fan of simplifying with one page and different countries getting the posts but sometimes the local pages have more of a community feel.

  • Hi  @jorgenpoulsen,

Interesting question – not sure about the answer.  The one point I do think is important to remember is that in countries that do not speak English as a first language - FB is moving away from English.  Meaning, people are posting in the local language and searching in it – they do not want to have to “think” on FB.  So I would recommend a local page in the local language for each – and tie it together with the map (it is a cool app)
