Facebook seems to have removed subscribe button for friends (4 posts)

Topic tags: friends, subscribe, Timeline
  • It used to be that if you hovered over a friends name that you could adjust how much of their status newsfeeds you would get.  It used to be right next to the button showing that they were a friend.  The friend button still is there letting you put them in special lists.  However, the subscribe button has disappeared.  There are a number of people I have as friends because they are neighbors in games I play.  However, I don’t want to subscribe to all of their posts.  Is there another way to block their posts, but still retain them as friends so that they can be my neighbor in games?

  • Lynda/Howard, I believe what you’re looking for can be found if you hover over or click on the “Friends” button.  (Settings is right above the Unfriend.)

Edited to add:  As for the Subscribe option, I’m not 100% certain, but I think you’ll only be able to subscribe if they have that turned on for non-”friends”.

  • Hi Holly,  That’s what you used to do.  It doesn’t work any more.   I was playing around and the way you accomplish what I want to do without unfriending the person is to go to the post and on the very right hand side there is a little arrow.  You click on the arrow and can choose the level you want.

Don’t know why they just didn’t leave it like it was before.  It was easier to deal with.

  • @inncaring It looks like you can go to their profile and click on the Friends button and then choose Settings and uncheck the posts you don’t want to get anymore.  Seems a bit more hidden than it was before.
