Facebook Save Post Feature (9 posts)

  • How does everyone feel about Facebooks new “save post” feature? Will it enhance or detract from our SM marketing efforts?

I understand that not everyone will have the feature show up yet on their Facebook account.

  • @jeduchscherer: What is this feature? I have not run into this on my organization’s Page.

  • I haven’t seen the feature or used it yet, but according to an article on appadvice.com, http://bit.ly/MYLy42 ”On Facebook’s full site, you can save a post for later by clicking “Save” in that post’s dropdown menu. Shortly after saving your first post, a new “Saved” tab will appear under “Favorites” in your sidebar. You can access your saved posts by clicking the “Saved” tab.

I’m waiting for it to be available across Facebooks full system. I believe it’s only available on mobile at the moment.

  • @jeduchscherer This looks very interesting.  I don’t see it yet on my iPad, but in the process of testing it out I found out something else I didn’t know – that when I hold my finger on a post I have the option of adding the post to my “Reading List”, which seems like a similar thing, except it’s saved on the iPad as opposed to Facebook.

  • @jeduchscherer I love the concept! I think it will enhance efforts. It sounds similar to favoriting a tweet. Creating saved references sounds like a great new benefit. I’m interested to hear anticipated cons.

  • I could see it being used maybe in a contest. i.e. (Save) Collect x number of daily posts to enter for an all-expenced paid trip to Dollywood, Branson, etc. Any other ideas?

  • Yes, I definitely think it would be great to save references.  Or save nice things people say about you :)    @jeduchscherer  Great thought but you can’t run contests with things like shares or Likes on a post – they have to be run on an App off the Timeline.

  • Thanks for the correction…saving nice things people say about you could be used as testimonials with their permission of course. This is great feedback!

  • @jeduchscherer Thanks for the heads up. After I saw your post, I saw an article about it as well:  http://mashable.com/2012/07/31/facebook-save-for-later/  I would be interested in saving conference posts. I’ll have to check my Droid phone to see if I have it yet…
