Facebook page & Twitter notifications on Android phone? (3 posts)

    I just switched from an iPhone to and Android and much prefer the new device. The only thing I’ve not been able to figure out is how to get notifications that pop up on the screen when the device is ‘asleep’ (turned on but the screen is off) that tell me of twitter mentions or activity on my Facebook pages. 

    Any suggestions? And in general, what’s your favourite Android app for working with Facebook and Twitter?

    I use the Facebook App on the Android and I get buzzing noises when the device is asleep but so far it doesn’t notify me of Page activity.  I just changed a couple of my settings on my Pages to give me onsite notifications to see if that helps.

    I also like Hootsuite for Twitter – although I don’t that that gives me notifications when it’s asleep.  I find all the notifications too distracting.

    @brianmulawka  @andrea-vahl I use the Facebook and Twitter apps on my Droid but I don’t have any sound notifications turned on apparently. I just check regularly when I’m away from my desktop (such as my vacay day tomorrow). Hootsuite and Twitter pop up on the top of my phone when there are mentions like my incoming emails. Then the phone blinks until I clear them.
