Hi gang!
Totally enjoy what SME puts out, so here to add my 2 cents for what it’s worth. But today I have a question regarding lists or rankings by # of Likes by specific industries or categories. I have seen total rankings with Facebook, Coca Cola, Eminem, etc having the most overall likes, but would love to see a current ranking by my industry or similar. Can anyone help? Thanks! One question. Why Likes? Page Likes are meaningless. And given that Facebook is in the middle of purging fake accounts, causing brands to be losing tens-of-thousands of Likes, it’s probably a pointless exercise any way.
You want to be looking for a list that measures engagement, not Likes.

@russellallert Hey Russ, Absolutely engagement is more important than likes, however, to date, I have yet to see any quantitative rankings for other than likes since those numbers are the only ones made public. In order for a Facebook ranking for engagement to be compiled, page insights would likely need to be published and that is private information thus far. So if you can steer me to a list of rankings other than Likes, I am very interested is seeing it! Thanks for your input. Dave

@davejackson6 It is easy to get a basic understanding of a page’s engagement by using the formula: Talking About This / Likes * 100 to give a percentage number.
Average this over a certain period of time and you have a basic level of engagement for any page. And both these numbers are public.
I know of one company who is doing this on a regular basis but it is for Australian-based companies, so let me know if you want the link.

@russellallert Russ – Thanks for the information regarding engagement formulas. I am very familiar with all of these but have yet to see any company rank pages by this criteria, which is what I am searching for. My level of interest is for my own industry within the U.S. only, so please keep me in mind if you learn of such a list. Dave

I think it would be fairly monumental to have all industries!
