Facebook Page – Likes (14 posts)

  • Hi all, I am new to the forum so bear with me:-)

Anyway, I consider myself to be well versed in facebook, I just have a quick question.  Facebook used to allow you to send a message to your personal friends when you asked them to “like” your page.  Is there a way to still do this? All I see right now as a way to ask my friends to like my page is to just hit the button next to their name and then their name disappears.

Thank you,Jessica KubitMeetBall The App (feel free to like me on facebook:-))

  • @jessica-kubit Yes you can do this if you navigate to your Page when you are logged in as your profile.  Then you will have the “Invite Friends” option under the Build Audience menu on the Facebook admin panel.  Once you invite your friends, they will get a notification in their notifications bar.

Sometimes it’s also good to send personal notes because people don’t always look at the notifications bar.

  • Hi: How do I get More Likes on my Facebook Fan Page?  So far I only have 70 likes & I would like to get hundreds of likes for my LOCAL AREA.  I have a small business & I would like to get more likes so that I can communicate with the community.  Can you help me?  I am not very “facebook”…ie “computer literate”.

    Thanks.

  • The new Facebook Graph Search will allow people to connect with others on a more local level.  You can ask for the beta here https://www.facebook.com/about/graphsearch

  • SUSIE…. good  luck….  it  can  be  great… i have a small local business…heres what we dild.. we  have our facebook on all  the paper, reciepts   flyers that  the  customer  gets. etc….we   talk it up in the store,  we put it in our email  messages and we   , 3 of us, put it  on our personal pages and thus  got our  friends on…..we do promoted posts  once in a while…  but have dropped  ads..

but  the main thing   imho, is  good  content….for us that mainly  means   good pictures of w hat we are  trying to sell…also  some fun pictures,  and  somelinks  and   some all text  posts….. one of the  best things we  did  was  when we had an event i took  tons of   customer pictures and  posted them  , with permmission….that awlays  gets  wonderful response….they like   questions and   behind the   story  pictures  too.

..our posts are 90% about our  business and what we sell….  i figure thats why they  liked us  ….our   goal and outlook is   organic  not   trying to appeal to   everyone  just to get more likes….we dont do coupons,  freebies or  begging for   likes  or  like  exchanges…

  • @jessica-kubit @andrea-vahl   I have a variation of the original post.  I manage a page for non-profit and when someone posts a reply I see where I can send them a message directly, but it appears that when I click message I am sending it from my personal page.  Hope that makes sense!

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Steve

  • Yes, @stevecurran you can only send a person a message from your personal page – Pages can’t send private messages UNLESS they have been sent a message first.  So I have my messaging button open on my Page but I can only Reply to messages – I can’t sent them out unsolicited.
    Hope that helps!

  • @susieq  There are lots of ideas in this Club.  I might even suggest you post a new thread asking that question with the link to your Page so people can offer you suggestions.  Here are a couple of posts I’ve done that may help also:http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/facebook-page-likes/This one is a little older:  http://www.andreavahl.com/facebook/45-ways-to-get-new-facebook-likers-formerly-known-as-fans.php    The Welcome Page option is no longer an option.
    Hope that helps!

  • @susieq

@annfurnivall is very correct in content (helps with edge rank). Also, don’t feel as if you can’t use promotions. Things like “Fan Gates” or “Like Gates” can be a great way to not only drive in locals to your establishment, but also give something back for them liking your page (giving them incentive).

Also, use the ad platform to target people in your local area. And when they click on the ad, send them to your page, a cool video about your place, a coupon, limited time promotion or that “Fan Gate” I mentioned earlier.

Also, Andrea’s suggestion is just as good.

  • Hello, everyone, I’m new to this forum, and part of my job includes SMM. I began working for my company in August 2012, and I manage our social networks. My predecessor, last June, apparently gained our business page several hundred likes, and I’m not sure if he bought them or not. Within the past 3 days, we have lost a total of 480 likes, and I know FB purged accounts of likes that weren’t authentic; I’m wondering if that’s what happened in this case, but I’m not certain.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! I could also use some advice on how to handle this on our timeline, as I think ignoring it would be a mistake. What should I say to our fans?

    Thank you,Melissa K.

  • Hi:  I am a busy Chiropractic Physician & no t very “social media” literate. Is there anyone that can help me get more “likes” for my facebook page?  My goal is to get 3000 likes (mostly within a 10 mile radius from my 2 offices).  I am working on getting flyers to our patients to like us on facebook.  But, as an “incentive” to get “likes”, what do you “folks” recommend?  Is there anyone out there who is an “expert” that can help me, and that will charge me a “reasonable” price?  I understand that you can get “likes” via “facebook stories”.  I am not very “social media literate”, so I would like their help.

Also, part of my practice is helping the Spanish Population, and part is English speaking patients.  Do I need two seprate facebook fan pages…ie 1 in English & other in Spanish or will one work.  I am “specifically” looking for fans in a 10 to 15 mile radius from my office, as usually most of my patients don’t travel more than 10 to 15 miles.  We SPECIALIZE in treating people that have been hurt in an Auto Accident and or Hurt at Work . Thank you all so much for your help! I hope I am doing this link correctly:   My facebook page is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/FirstChoice-Chiropractic-Rehabilitation/109784979110104Any feedback or reply would be most appreciated.

  • @susieq we have   built a  large page locally.[4800]..first  by   talking our  friends into   liking it,  then  .by  talking about it a lot in our  face to face dealilngs in our store ……and  putting  the facebook  logo on all the paper   going out  and then having interesting  things on our page…..

and how about   researching the  mayo clinic   page ?, i have heard its great…. just to see how the  best  does  a health page….
