  • Hi all -Seeing more reports that Facebook Offers are being enabled on people’s pages.  Here’s what it looks like:

You can find out more about how they work by going to http://www.facebook.com/help/offers and you can also sign up to be on the beta testing list here:  http://www.facebook.com/help/contact/?id=367554259954235

So do you think your business will use Offers?  Curious to see what people think!

  • thanks…i saw  one on my page  today..and  deleted it….. i can  see  some negatives…maybe  too commercial…  do  you  like the idea  andrea? @andrea-vahl

  • This willl be a good tool for some of my Clients and no use to others.  I like it!

  • It popped up on my page and I took the little tour…then I left my page for a second to do something else…when I came back it was gone!  :(

  • Not available on my pages yet, but I guess this could be a useful tool for some businesses because it seems easy to set up and maintain.

  • Hmmmm while I can see this being good for some FB pages I’m not sure that we would use it on ours. Our Facebook page has turned into more a community then a place to promote items.

Wouldn’t hurt to try once to see how it does though.

  • I had one pop up on my page yesterday.  I clicked right through it.  I’d like to wait and hear what other people’s experience with offers is, before I jump in.

  • Yes I’ve heard they have disappeared from others pages also @shannawhiteley – don’t know if that means you have to think of something to offer right away when you see it but maybe it’s good to be ready.

I also heard that if you put yourself down as a Local Business with an address you are more likely to get it.

  • I’m excited about this feature. Its going to be helpful for the small business and helps them compete with other bigger businesses. That is though, if they understand the power of social media and how it can drive more customers to their doorstep.

  • I tried it out and there were some problems. The custom menu option didn’t work to limit the number of offers and then nobody, including me, got the email of the Facebook offer once claimed. In terms of customer engagement it was good though. I had two sales ( for a high end product) as a direct result.

  • just  for  curiosity  and  testing, im  trying it   too…and  have  18 claimed by early this morning……..here,  i guess they wil just  show us on their phone and then  get the discount….hopefully  they  got  their email confirmation…

  • @andrea-vahl Thanks for sharing this info. This would be good for our carpet cleaning business, but I can see it might not be for everyone. I’m going to give it a try.

  • i ran my offer  for  2  days and  40 people   signed up for it……  but none  came in to get it….??? i always  saY  COUPONS  ETC  DONT WORK ON MY   fans,,,

not  sure what  to   think about this….

  • I ran one that was a buy one get one 50% off for a client that’s a restaurant and we set the limit to 50 claims and exp. to end of the month. I explained to them that only a certain %  of claims would turn into redeemed but they were just as excited as I was and within 2 hours all 50 were claimed. They had 2 people show up that night and a few more today, from this we learned you need to put everything you can think of in the terms and conditions and setting it up for 30 days gives people time to plan their trip out to the restaurant.
The question I have not found an answer to is how do you tell Facebook Joe Schmo redeemed his offer so he doesn’t come back next week and use it again?
As far as I know all claims received an email also on the original post on the page it will say Joe claimed this offer or 50 people claimed this, so you can tell it’s no longer available.

  • @annfurnivail  it is still good word of mouth advertising for you because when receiving the email you have the option to share.
Maybe you just need to think of creative solutions like off the top of my head “claim your free hug” or “free samples to be picked up in house”
There are still options for you to take advantage of this tool.
I have heard that coupons just don’t work period over and over aging I am a big believer in social advertising and the fact that print media is a dying breed. But using a coupon on your Facebook in this matter should almost always bring some results. Most of the time I say to the client it’s all about how you train your community..

  • @ashleyhyde…great  report  ,.very impressive!!!….im  going to try  it  again…and   set it up like you  did, stretching it out in time…..i hear  you on the print  advertizing….we have  dropped so much of it….

im  thinking maybe    they  will use  it  the next  time  they  buy  that item….  i wouldnt  be suprised….i guess i didnt   put a  deadline on  when  they  could use it……  for us  we are a destination  store  and most of  the   customers  cant  just  drop in easily…they have to   plan a trip….so it could  be a monthly  offer….  definitely  thinking on this….

  • Offers are available in beta to a limited number of local business Pages. Facebook is plannig to launch offers more broadly soon.
