I’m so sorry for the delay in getting this Marketing Makeover up! You may remember we had a contest when we hit 100,000 Fans on the Social Media Examiner Facebook Page. I spoke with Mark and found out more about his goals on Facebook and with his business. This business and Page are VERY new so we have some great potential here to help Mark really get this off the ground.
His website is http://www.RanbethFinance.com and he also has a page that is hosted by another entity here: http://www.empowernetwork.com/ranbeth05/ Mark it looks like since we spoke you may have pointed the Ranbeth Finance site to your Empower Network site.
His goal with this business is to use this site to promote Affiliate products. He is focusing on three connected topics: Physical Health, Inner Health, and Financial Health. When you have all three then you can have a good life.
He is currently blogging on the Empower Network site and focusing on these three things. When you click on the header of the Empower Network site, he will get affiliate income when someone buys that product.
He has some Twitter accounts but he is not really using them.
The goal of his Facebook Page is to get up to 1000 – 2000 Likes in the short term and attract more of an audience to his affiliate products. Currently he works full time and has about 10-15 hours to work on this business.
That’s the background information and here is how we are going to do the Makeover - I’m going to make some initial suggestions and then ask the group to jump in with their suggestions. Next week, I will make some more suggestions and we will continue to discuss. Hopefully Mark will be able to implement as we go (some suggestions may take more time). We’ll see how everything goes and maybe continue this on for a 3rd week. of suggestions. Very excited to get started!
Week 1: Initial suggestions
First we need to focus on the branding. I think @ranbeth11 should focus on having his own site and his own brand. It’s much easier to stand out from a crowd of people who may be promoting the same affiliate products. This lesson applies to affiliate marketing and networking companies (Mary Kay, and other types of companies like that)
Mark is creating his own content by blogging and it would be better to own the content and control the content. On the Empower Network site, he is not branded as much as the person who is at the top of the Page. I know that creating a whole new WordPress site is a challenge but this is something that I would recommend for the near future. It is usually fairly easy to install WordPress on the site but then you need to pick a theme, load up the blog posts and customize it a bit. So creating his own site is a focus for the future but for now, we can focus on the branding on his Facebook Page.
I like the idea of focusing on the three things together – Financial, Inner, and Physical health because they can be tied together. I think the first thing he needs to do when looking at the branding is creating a tagline.

Once we get the tagline, then we will create the Facebook cover and the profile picture. Right now I think the woman that is the current profile picture addresses all three things – more on the physical side. If Mark wants to design the cover photo himself, he could find a good photo or maybe 3 good ones, that represent each of the topics and create a collage-like cover photo (I like using http://www.123rf.com for inexpensive stock photos) and then add the tagline to it using this tool: http://timelinecoverbanner.com/11/paper-texture-facebook-timeline-banner-background/#
If Mark wanted to have someone else design it and if he wanted to control costs, he could use something like Fiverr.com.
Then the other immediate thing that I would like to see Mark complete is to create a free giveaway and start collecting e-mails. Your e-mail list will be the best thing you can do for your business. You already have a lot of blog posts and you can just work on a report that someone can use. Something like “Six Ways You Can Quickly and Easily Improve Your Physical, Financial, and Inner Health So That You Can Achieve Your Dreams”
How is this related to Facebook? Mark can create an optin Page for his free report on a Facebook tab so that he is collecting e-mails and Fans at the same time!

Once we get these two things in place, we will have Mark begin focusing on finding Fans for his page and adding the right content. We will dive into this task next week.
