Facebook Launches Sponsored Results Search Ads API (7 posts)

  • Has anyone seen this news?  What do you think?  Will you use this?  Here’s the link to the article: http://bit.ly/RiZ6uC

  • Have not used it yet but would love to hear what others think!

  • I think this was where you could turn a single post on your FB Page into an ad… correct? …. it’s a nice feature if you have the money to spend on it, but I would like to hear if anyone has used it and if so what their results were? (IE – did they get more likes?)

  • @dianebianchi

Thanks for sharing the article, Diane. I wonder how this works. Would my ad only show in the ‘sponsored’ section when people enter the company name (as per page account name) or can you define search words indepently of your account name? Ie, if I want to promote a tea shop, could I use the search term ‘tea shop’ to have ‘Sandy’s Tea Room’ as search result or would users have to enter ‘Sandy’s’ to get found?

Also, does anyone know what the difference is between Top Hit and Sponsored (as per screenshot in the article)? Is Top Hit paid as well?

  • Hi @claudiapoeclk.  I think it does work with a search term.  I checked it out.  I started typing “social” and it came up with two sponsored ads for games, which didn’t even have the word “social” in the name of the game or the ad!  Maybe it’s categorized under “social”.  I’m not sure what a “Top Hit” is, but my guess would be that it is the page that gets the most hits when searches are done.  By the way, Social Media Examiner came up as “Top Hit” when I typed “Social”! :)

@devanianjali, this is not advertising a post.  It is an ad that shows up when you use the search bar in Facebook, kind of like when you do search on Google and when the results come up you have sponsored links at the top.

  • @dianebianchi That’s great. So it could really be valuable. I wonder if anyone in the club already gave it a try.

It seems the Top Hit refers to your individual search. I just tried it with other keywords and it showed the page I personally visited most.

  • @claudiapoeckl  That’s interesting about the Top Hit.  I’ll check it out further.
