Facebook Guidelines for personal profile (9 posts)

  • Does anyone know where i can find guidelines on personal profile cover and not pages or would this be the same set of rules

    thanks

  • @bertievg Are you using a profile for a business? If so, that is strictly against the Facebook terms of service. You run the risk of getting your account shut down when Facebook discovers this.

  • @charlene-kingston No No, i had a Q regards to Profile rules vs Pages. I know the rules but are not sure if it applies to profile timeline as well

  • @bertievg I haven’t seen any rules for profile timeline photos.

  • @bertievg agree with most people here, have not seen/read any guidelines for profile photos and haven’t got something like rules for profile v/s pages. But as far as i understand, fb timeline page rules might not apply to profile timeline. Since profile is made to be totally personal, i don’t think fb shall interrupt in the way an individual is presenting him/herself on fb. I mean if it comes to business page, fb needs to take some control because it involves third parties/fans/customers etc. But while it deals with profile, it is purely one person related, and individual subject so don’t see any rules like restrictions etc. except the rule that you can’t use it for business purpose. Thanks,

  • @charlene-kingston @moinshaikh

Thanks, it make sense that FB will not use the same set of rules and thank you for your participation

  • I have not seen any rules either @bertievg and hence that is where a lot of people (myself included!) are putting their web addresses.  I created my personal profile cover before the rules came out about the Page cover photos and mine may be too “business-y” since it also mentions my book.

I think Facebook needs to come out and give some more specific rules because you are going to talk about your business on your Facebook personal page.  It’s part of your life.  But they should also extend the no-website rule to your Facebook personal profile if they are going to have it on the Facebook Pages also.

  • @andrea-vahl Agree! I mean how difficult is it to say yes to this….or know to that….

    thanks for the feedback

  • I am hoping that I am posting in the correct place.
My client is not happy the page for her fan page is at the bottom left and not very visible. Is there a remedy for this? http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001786750926&ref=tn_tnmn
Also she claims when she logged in from another account she couldn’t like her page. I am not sure why that is the case unless she has cookies on her computer from previous log in to fan page interfering.
She wants a like button on her profile but know that isn’t an option.
More like promote, promote, promote may be the answer.
    Appreciate any assistance.
    Thanks,
    Rebecca
