FACEBOOK GROUPS-The most underused thing on Facebook? (8 posts)

Topic tags: facebook group
  • Facebook groups have been huge for me….great way to build community….and relationships….also a great way to separate the personal by putting family stuff in a secret group.
I have a community group “Facebook for Beginners’ for all to SHARE NOT SELL.

I also use Facebook groups for my Mastermind Groups, sharing much like we do here and keeps the momentum going between calls.

    How do you use groups?

  • I use a secret fb group for my familiy as well.  Great way to keep in touch.  Haven’t thought about setting up a group for business, but think it’s a great idea!

Thanks, can’t wait to see what other say.

  • I teach Internet Strategies and use Facebook secret groups for each 6-week course. All students must friend me and get put into the group. It is where I alert them to the presentations being ready for them and where I post the link to the recording afterwards. It’s also where interaction happens. Once the course is done, all students get put into the Alumni secret group. I LOVE Facebook Groups!

  • You are so right that Facebook groups are SO underrated! It’s really important to make the Facebook group stand out from the fan page, but if it’s done right, a FB group can grow even bigger than the page! I feel it can be more formal and helpful because the people who join a group are generally looking to intimately interact and get help. Facebook groups rock!

  • Groups are maybe a good method for a more sincere interaction. Fans are fans, but then there are customers. Btw I made a secret group for my extended family. Could be one of the best uses of fb ever…

  • @glengorham, @maroganbarnhart, @michellefontaine, @juleswebb, Thanks for sharing, all terrific ideas.  Collaborating helps all of us! Thanks so much!  Another way to use groups is to put ‘Reunion’ groups together, I have put together a trip for July 2012 and use the group aspect to keep the motivation going…great idea for people in travel too!

  • So which privacy setting would you recommend for my business… Open, closed, or secret?

    Privacy:

    • Open Anyone can see the group, who’s in it, and what members post.
    • Closed Anyone can see the group and who’s in it. Only members see posts.
    • Secret Only members see the group, who’s in it, and what members post.

  • @ursa-Sherry, they are all very different,  I use secret for groups that you only want the members to see, I use open for Facebook for Beginners, because it is for everyone…and closed would be invite only, but everyone can see the posts…so you would have to decide HOW in your business you are going to use it.
