  • I would really appreciate people’s advice if you can help? It’s regarding my Facebook Fanpage http://www.facebook.com/whyuscoukI log into my Personal Facebook page with no problem but…. When I choose the drop down for my Fanpage And click on, I simply get a plain white page, literally all that is displayed is my URL bar correctly stating http://www.facebook.com/whyuscouk …. There are no errors displayed inthe URL or anywhere on the screen….I’ve tried the following to no avail… 1) Deleting browser cache & history 2) Tried on Firefox (my normal), Chrome, IE & Safari with Vista on 1 laptop 3) Also tried on a separate Windows 7 laptop again with above browsers 4) tried on iPad Full website version (Safari) & iPhone Facebook app.Other facts 1) The Fanpage has only been live about 4 weeks with only 17 LIKES & approx 25 updates, nit knowingly posting anything abnormal or against rules. 2) I’ve not had an email from Facebook telling me I’ve done anything wrong 3) Fault appeared approx 6days ago. I’ve emailed Facebook but had nothing back and not holding my breathe that I will 4) I have 3 other Fanpages on the account, 2 that I created and 1 that I’ve have been granted Admin permission on.Please if someone can shed advise on this or experienced before your help would be greatly appreciated.Kind regards (and fingers crossed) Richard (Frustrated)

  • @richardsingleton You said you admin three pages. So, with regard to  this page which is behaving in a weird manner, are you an admin or you are owner? Means has someone granted you rights or you have created this page? Also please mention if those two other pages are behaving correctly.

One thing we can do is, first login to your profile using your personal email id and password (as usual you do!) And then rather than switching to page from that top-right corner dropdown menu, type in page address in the browser, and then see if you can see anything on it.

Let me know if it works. Thanks,Moin

  • @richardsingleton, It seems to be a problem at your side only, because I can see the full page without delay. So at least your fans (and future fans) won’t have an issue visiting your page.

I faced similar problems several times during the last weeks when loading my pages, ie pages only showed the timeline cover but none of my posts. But usually when I tried again (and again) the page content showed up at some stage. It seems to me that Facebook faces capacity issues at the moment.

Have you tried selecting your page and leaving it alone for a few minutes, to see if it’s just a matter of loading too slowly?

  • Hi Thanks for replies.Moin, yes Claudia has just mentioned the Fanpage can be viewed by others & I notice a new LIKE in the 24 hours so that’s good, however I cannot post updates (not good). When logging into personal account I can them type the Fanpage into URL which loads the page fine, but I’m still logged in on personal account so can post ‘why-us’ updates. The 2 other Fanpages that I own (1 of which I no longer use) are working perfectly fine and accessible, as is the Fanpage that I have been made admin of. It’s just my ‘whyuscouk’ page that is a problem.Claudia, ive left for a few mins to no avail. It’s frustrating that I’ve tried on several devices & browsers for it to be a persistent problem.Any further thoughts? Thanks. P.s. I’m typing this on iPad, apologies of post format, it doesnt seem to be showing paragraphs as I’m typing it.Cheers Richard

  • @richardsingleton Seems weird problem now. May be that’s a bug, can you take some screenshot and put here? please…Regards, Moin…

  • @richardsingleton, I have seen on your page that you have a business partner – Andrew. Is he admin of the page as well? If so, can he view the page and post as whyus? If he’s admin, too, maybe he can check the settings and see if you are still in as admin resp which role you got…

  • Hi, here is a link to a screen shot I have taken…… https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4260289/Facebook/FanpagePlainWhite.jpg

Unfortunately Andrew is not an Admin, I am the only one at the moment.
I’ve tried leaving the page for 30 mins and refreshing several times but no joy.

Do you know of anything I could perhaps add to the URL to try to get onto the settings page? I tried seeing what the URL is on the settings page from my other Fanpage was to maybe copy after http://www.facebook.com/whyuscouk/……. but it appears to just be random numbers ?>’ etc.

    Regards
    Richard

  • I’m afraid I have no idea how to help you, Richard. I tried to play around with your page to find your page number (for manipulating the url) and I also checked if I (or someone else for that matter) somehow can take over (claim) your page. No luck. Sorry :-(

  • Hi Claudia,

Oh dear, thank you for trying!!!! Just out of interest, are you familiar with the Facebook process should you encounter problems etc. I have sent them 2 emails, 1st over a week ago with no response. They advise that not all will even get responded to…..

I have tried to add Andrew as Content manager, Andrew has then logged in to Facebook but doesn’t have the drop down arrow to choose why-us?

Do you think I’m going to have to start a new page. A little frustrating.

    Richard

  • Haha, yes, I have experience with Facebook’s ‘support’. I had an issue with one of my pages having been recategorized. No solution – I just hope that it sorted itself out when I merged with a place page.

The other case was, when I didn’t have insights for one of my pages. It’s soo difficult to get in touch with FB directly, but there was already a thread on the Facebook forum for developers and I just added my comments. Silence for weeks and weeks but suddenly, my insights were available.

I would suggest to have a look in the forum if there is a thread for your issue already and if not, just create one. There is also a FB page around ‘known issues’ – you might want to have a look at this one as well…

  • @richardsingleton I have been having the same thing with one of my pages!  I thought it was just me and I was able to get around not being able to post to it by logging in as the Page, then you see the white screen, then just going to Facebook.com from there and now I could see my Home Feed and get access to post.  But I can’t get anywhere else on the Page.

I tried different browsers and that’s not it either.  I’m contacting the other admins to see what they see but I just thought it was a glitch that would heal itself.  Up in the notifications bar I can get to the individual posts as well to follow up with any comments.

I’ll let you know what I find!

  • @richardsingleton @andrea-vahl I’m having the same problem with a page, too. I admin and own other pages that are working fine.  There are two other admins on this page, one is the page owner, and we are all seeing the same thing, from different devices and browsers.  I don’t have a solution, but I can tell you how I am posting and managing the page.  The good news is your users can get your posts, see your page, and all appears normal to them.

    1.  If you go in as yourself and click on your page on the left side, under pages, your page timeline should appear and you should be able to post on your page, as the page, respond to comments and review your settings.  I found nothing amiss with settings.

    2.  If you then go to the top right and pull down to use Facebook as the page, you will get the white screen.  But, if you click the back button, it should populate the page’s newsfeed and you will be logged in as your page, on the newsfeed, so you can comment on newsfeed stories.  However, if I click on someone else’s page in the newsfeed (say Nike, McDonald’s, whomever) l get the white screen. So, what I have found, is when logged in as the page, it is impossible to view ANY page, by clicking a profile link or typing the page.  This applies to people also.  If I try to click on a follower’s profile, I get the white page.  Very, very strange.

So, good news is, if your problem is like mine, you can actually admin your page and there is no interruption in service to your followers.  The only thing you can’t do is post directly on another page’s wall, or view your timeline when logged in as the page.

When will Facebook respond to this?  I’m hoping a savvy tech person in the community figures out some kind of fix, but if it is a Facebook thing, who knows if that is even possible.  At least we can use the page, and at least we’re not alone!  I was thinking maybe I had done something wrong, but like you, no nasty-grams or error messages from FB, and no changes in settings or admins lately.

Does anyone think this could be some kind of hack of the accounts?

Thanks for any ideas!Best of luck to us all.

  • Ivy & Andrea, thanks for replies, I’ve been out tonight so only just seen. It’s the most frustrating problem isn’t it!Ivy, I see what you mean in turns of trying to access & seeing feeds in various ways.I’ll be back online in the morning (UK 9 hours) & will update from their. If anyone one gets a sniff of a fix, or hears anything let’s update!Cheers!

  • IT’S BACK!

Huge thanks to you all for contributing to my question. I don’t know how it’s been fixed but I’ve just logged in and all seems ok at the moment, hope it stays that way, fingers crossed.
