Facebook Engagement: Content Features of a Fabulous Post (3 posts)

  • I’ve been studying the salient content characteristics of posts made by 9 universities on their respect official Facebook fan pages for four months. I know what I’m seeing in the academic world, but I wonder what is working for you.

Do picture, text or video posts work the best? Why do you think that is? Text that is in included in a graphic, for me, falls under the picture category.

Also, do Call-to-Action posts receive more engagement than benign posts?

Do you usually place a link in your posts?

    Thanks,Diantha

  • My SM is for the health and beauty retail industry and photos and videos ALWAYS 100% of the time get more engagement for us. We often put text in the photos to get it noticed as well. We also like to use polls, as the call to action does seem beneficial.

  • @dianthaleavitt Hi Diantha

Here is my list. It is best to use a mix of post types to keep people interested.

    Short, easily answered questions
    Images relevant to your business
Short text posts (no more than 3 lines)
Relevant links (not too many likes or comments but great click-throughs)
Inspirational quotes (text as an image)

But have a look at this blog post as well on building engagement.

    Cheers,
    Russ
