Facebook & Email Integration: Feedback Needed (14 posts)

  • Magnified Mouth maker of Local Promos, a third party Facebook application has sent out their first newsletter today :) The client is Tower Pizza. You must read the whole post to answer my question located at the bottom.Tower Pizza’s consumers were converted into Facebook fans during or after their dining experience. It was explained to them before they placed their order if they “liked” Tower Pizza on Facebook and connected with their promotion through Local Promos, they would recieve $2.00 of tonight’s bill. Tower Pizza collects not only Facebook fans in this process but also email addresses that are attained from consumers connecting with Local Promos.90% of the people that were asked agreed to participate and Tower Pizza is well on their way to building a list of highly targeted consumers to market too through email and Facebook. The question that both my business partner and I have been pondering is whether or not to keep the email promotion “private” from Facebook and exclusively through email only. Or if we should offer the special promotion to all Facebook fans, regardless if they have connected with Local Promos or not, thus integrating email and Facebook marketing. My business parnter seems to think we should keep the marketing messages separate and not offer the promotion to Facebook fans who have not connected with Local Promos.I think we should offer it to both the email list and Facebook fans. Two birds with one stone approach. Please let me know what you think.

  • Sorry about the paragraph spacing, it doesn’t allow me to space on my iPad :(

  • Another reason not to get an iPad? :)

@theodoresturos I would offer it to Facebook fans as well. I am not sure as to why you wouldn’t to be honest.

Another alternative is to come up with an exclusive offer to offer your Facebook fans. This is a great way to give people a reason to Like you.

    Cheers, Russ

  • @russellallert I agree with you, my business partner does not. We have exclusive promotions offered on Facebook, the email promotion is just a little better though. That’s the dilemma, thanks for your feedback.

  • @theodoresturos

Have you used “check-in deals” through Facebook? A friend of mine who owns a restaurant offered a certain item for free or at a discount after a certain number of check-ins. It encouraged repeat business as well as engagement through Facebook. Perhaps you could do the same deal across the different channels to have a broader reach?

  • Good luck with it, @theodoresturos :)

  • @alexandrabriggs Where does one find check in deals on Facebook?

  • @amyhallbiz When in the edit screen of the business page the left side navigation menu the bottom of the list should have a yellow  coupon icon with deals. when you click that it should take you to the screen for setting up the deal

  • @alexandrabriggs Thanks! I have restaurant interested in use it.

  • @amyhallbiz My pleasure Amy! Let us know how it goes! Have they also thought of doing an Email promotion campaign like  @theodoresturos mentioned?

  • @alexandrabriggs  He does YELP deals, Living Social deals, sends out email coupons on slow days to bring customers in and has a “discount” card company that he works with. I don’t facilitate his Facebook … yet. So I haven’t run anything through his Facebook … yet.

After going through this string I’m going to suggest that he buy a pad for the restaurant for email and Facebook sign-ups. A % off a bill for a like or a free desert for a like. I’m sure he’ll know what to do.

The think I love about having a restaurant for a client is that we have meetings at his business and he always feeds me!!! <3 <3 <3

  • The number one reason people Like places on Facebook in order to get the deals @theodoresturos so I think it makes sense to offer it both places.  It sounds like since many of the people are on Facebook and e-mail already, you aren’t losing out by promoting it through both channels.

  • @russellallert @andrea-vahl @amyhallbiz Thank you for the feedback! I agree with all three of you. I agree that the same promotion should be portrayed to both fans and email recipients. I will have to look into check ins to see how we will record the accounting when the deal is given. I really appreciate all of your feedback. Now I have some feedback to show my business partner, he is sort of a Pre Madonna, always thinks he is right!

  • @theodoresturos  Sounds like my husband ;) But my husband is usually right, I’ll give him that!
