facebook check in (8 posts)

  • we just had a fabulous weekend…with   probably  1000  people in  the  4  days….and   our  facebook  check in  idea w as in an email and also  on our page and seen  on   2 or 3000  pages…we maybe  got  20 takers….i  just  dont  get how  uninterested our  customers are in this  kind of  stuff….  they love our page  and  tell me that….but   dont  bother with   cashing in   …i dont  really  care…but  i cant  figure it out….  im  sticking to  mainly   great pictures  and   a fun  joke  once in a while…

i feel like its kind of  boring to them a nd not worth their   attention…it  was just a little  freebie  worth   3 or 4$$$.

  • even a $50 dollar freebie would not have drawn me this weekend, I was busy. No matter how good a think you offer, people have other plans. It might not be you, or your offer.

  • @richardmclaughlin….that  would be me too…. then i would  wonder wheres my perk  when i  finally got  there…lol

thats  really how it is here….they like it they want to come  and they  come  when  it works  for them….it  doesnst  seem to  be about the   contrived perks…..its  such an effort  to get to us..most   drive at least an hour to shop  here…i do  better   focussing on a  great  experience when they  actually  get here…

..in plugged in    talk that would  be  the  quality of the  actual    content …

Personally, I’m not a big sale shopper.  I’ll pay for something full price if I want or need it.  I don’t even clip coupons… seems like too much work for a little discount.  To get people to engage with you in store and online (in this case, almost simultaneously) you might need to offer a greater incentive.  Thinking back over the years I’ve run Facebook promotions, it has to be something of decent value like an iPad or vacation.  I’m not saying you should give either of those away but think about your customer and what drives them to take action.  Possibly an in-store drawing to win a really cool item of their choice (under a specific dollar amount, don’t give away the farm).  It would have to be significant but think about how many people you’d get into the store if they had the chance to win something great!

  • @iamconsulting we kind of  do that, …at our  events  we  have a drawing  for a  100$$  prize……and  even tho our  contests and  coupon  clipping ideas have  mostly  been a   dud    we  have  great  engagement with our customers,  over  50%  reach on  3400 facebook  fans  fairly often..facebook is  working for  us  ….

.  i really feel like you do on  promotioins …i never  personally  do it, or  clip coupons….i  just  seem to be  drawn to  try it  for the store once in a while    because i see it   pushed  sooooooo  much    from  the experts…..’but its not an important   or  even  slightly important   part of  our marketning…

like i said   , i think our  actual  content and the  real  experience   of the store is the key….for us anyway..,,organic!!!

  • I think it’s almost better that you have loyal customers who will pay full price (obviously better) @annfurnivall and not just coupon clippers who are interested in the deal.
I do think people appreciate the idea that they can get deals through your Facebook Page.  So maybe just do them from time to time but clearly the pictures are working for you so just keep doing those.

  • @annfurnivall

It’s great that you have so much engagement from your audience.  It sounds like Facebook has been a goldmine for you.  I agree with Andrea that offering them from time to time is still a good idea.  Regardless if they bring the coupon in or not, it may still drive them into your store.

On a side note – I have read many of your posts and you seem like you have a good grasp on connecting with you customers which I think is fantastic.  It’s great to hear from someone that really tries to use the various avenues of online marketing and with great success.  I wish you many more successes and good luck!

  • @iamconsulting gee thanks….  we  dont have any other income  so  its   really important  …i have tried and  dropped  so many things….and kept  so many things…like our  25 yr  database of customers!!!!
