Facebook Business With Multiple Locations (13 posts)

  • Hello,I’m assuming this question has an obvious answer which I’ve overlooked but I wanted to know how you handle a biz with multiple locations when it comes to checking in on Facebook.

My client just opened their second location and when I visited, I tried checking in but their regular facebook page won’t come up. I understand this is because the address is different but how can customers check-in to their new location and their regular Facebook page still get “credit”?

    I appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

  • Hi James,We actually have 4 locations and similar challenges!  When I check in at each store, it gives the option to add that place.  Our store locations are listed multiple times as random people add us as a place!  None of this seems to be connected to our actual Facebook page though… http://www.facebook.com/ImpactThriftStores

Is there a way to connect these to our page?  And is there a way to delete the check in locations that aren’t “official”?Thanks,Jill

  • Hey Jill, I ran into the same “add place” option on my mobile. I am trying to avoid having multiple places where people check-in. I’m sure someone on SME has ran into this, so fingers crossed that we will get the answer. Not sure about connecting or deleting previous check-ins. That’s a great point as well. Thanks!

  • No, unfortunately, @jamesalonso and @impactjill, multi-site Facebook Pages aren’t available yet for the smaller businesses.  It’s very frustrating!  Bigger brands have them like Starbucks and Macy’s but they haven’t rolled out for smaller companies.  I don’t have a projection on when they will.  The only solution is to open multiple Pages at this point but I know that’s not a great solution for people who don’t want to post in many places.  Sorry I don’t have a better answer!

  • @andrea-vahl Thanks for your response. So how do you handle check-in deals for this situation? It just seems so counter productive to have a page for each location. Then you have fans spread out all over the place. Will fans who check-in at the address listed on the main Facebook page be the only ones who can take advantage of the deal?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Yes, that is true, @jamesalonso – Only the fans at one location would be able to take advantage of a check in deal.  I agree, it’s a pain.  Everything I’ve seen shows that people are still waiting for it.  http://ads.ak.facebook.com/ads/FacebookAds/Page_Locations.pdfhttp://www.insidefacebook.com/2011/07/11/parent-child-corporate-local-locations-pages-places/

    Very frustrating!

  • @andrea-vahl Thank you so much for the article. I agree 100%. Very frustrating!

  • @andrea-vahl seems like a good problem to solve through a FB app. If you have thoughts and it seems like a big enough problem, please email and we will love to solve it!

  • @rajatgarg Could you elaborate?

  • @rajatgarg  I don’t think you could solve this through a Facebook App because it really relates to being able to check in on your phone.  You could create an app that showed the multiple locations but only one place would have check in capability.

  • @andrea-vahl @jamesalonso @rajatgarg @impactjill

Have a look what’s going on here:

It seems you now can connect a ‘mother page’ with local pages…

  • @claudiapoeckl,

Thanks for sharing! Seems like the global-local integration is not available to all participating businesses, though. That said, looks like there is hope! (cc:
    @jamesalonso)

  • Thank you, @claudiapoeckl! None of the pages I manage have this feature but I am hopeful. ;)
