Facebook business cards? (9 posts)

  • You may have heard about it today, as breaking news, that Facebook is partnering with MOO Cards, to offer business cards based on your timeline profile and design. You can read the complete article here:
    http://mashable.com/2012/01/05/facebook-moo-business-cards/

Now, I actually went ahead with the process, and although I was very skeptical at first, I kind of like the design and opportunities it could bring, in particular for small business, solo entrepreneurs, consultants or anyone who just really wants to bring his or her online persona into the real world.

I ordered 50 cards, and it should be arriving home in Quebec City (Canada) by February 6th. Best part? Free. Completely free, including shipping and handling. But this will only last for the first 200,000 folks who order.

What a phenomenal marketing stunt, I find. Worked for me… ;-)

  • I saw that and I will probably order some cards too!  Very cool.  Who else is ordering cards?

  • i think we will be trialling with some of the smaller businesses i work with v cool idea, cheaper than a AR card for sure!!

  • Another idea that has been successful of me, I use my business card also as my signature on my email.  Customized.  Not just the hyperlinks.

  • @charlynshelton-socialmediainterpreter Do you use your business card as an image (jpeg, tif)? If so, wouldn’t many ISP block the image before it gets to the intended receiver?
    Just wondering.

  • @fredericgonzalo-No it doesn’t…it is a jpeg….and I tried to copy it to paste here and couldn’t and there is no way to add the attachment.  It is the exact same as my business card, the designer did it so I know nothing about the programming.  If you want to send me an email to: charlyn@charlynshelton.com I will be happy to show you.

  • @fredericgonzalo

I saw that on Mashable yesterday, as well, and immediately investigated. I was so jazzed about the giveaway that I wrote a post on my Blogging Bistro blog about it — it includes a how-to video tutorial from Product Manager George Grinsted.

I like the fact that you can edit any of the information (and the pictures) that appear on your cards.

As soon as I set up my Facebook Timeline, I’m going to order cards. Let us know how your cards turn out, Frederic.

  • @laurachristianson Will do! I turned on Facebook Timeline back in the Fall, so I have been liking the new design (some folks hate it, though). So it is indeed cool to see this built in business cards, and you can totally tweak it as you see fit.

    Cheers,
P.S. Cool blog post and overall blog ergonomy, by the way. You rock ;-)

  • Woohoo, just received my deck of 50 business cards today. Cool, slick, and very professional. I just might have to order again, but in much bigger quantities… and having to pay, this time around! ;-)
