    Hi all,

    One of my clients has a Facebook page that was set up by someone else.  When he logged on it went straight to what looked like a Facebook Page but without the search box or Home icon.  It dawned on me that it must be a Business Account.  I have found very little info on the internet about them and wonder if anyone else has by-passed setting up a personal account straight to a business account… any help would be greatly appreciated!!Thanks,Juliet

    All you have to do to “convert” this account is to add a personal profile as an admin @julietd  Then it will act just like a regular Facebook Page and have the search box and have the ability to Like other Pages and all the things that a regular Facebook Page can do.  Hope that helps!

    Hi Andrea, thanks for this (and answering in FB too). This particular client is not interested in having a personal account and the person that set this up for him used his sole email address. It really threw me because my understanding is that you should have a personal account. I can see the use of business accounts for large organisations but not individuals? Thank you, Juliet

    You can change the e-mail account for this @julietd and even if they aren’t interested in a personal profile, I tell people that you can just set up a shell of an account – completely lock down everything so only you can see things and use it that way.  It just limits you too much by having a Business only Page and that’s the way Facebook works.  Sometimes you have to do a goofy work around like this to accomplish what you want to do.

    Thank you so much for this and it makes perfect sense to me @andre-vahl :-) i have tried to explain it to him but he is adamant that he doesn’t want a personal page and just wants to use the business account and for me to explain what he can and can’t do with it, could you briefly outline this for me?   For the record  I have told him that i don’t recommend this and re-iterated your point that that it is not the way Facebook works!
