Facebook and Novel Marketing (3 posts)

  • Hi Guys,

I am looking to draw from the many years of experience in our members and get some suggestions for how to use Facebook to sell a novel. My client has just finished her first book and she is keen to use Facebook to spread the word and hopefully increase sales. She is also trying a specialised company and another website to promote her book. I would be interested in all other ideas.

    RegardsJohn

  • I did similar for a client.  He wanted to build his “list” so he could market to them before his book hit Amazon.  We raised his “list” from about 300 to well over 1000 with Blog Marketing and he had a presold audience before the book was even published on Amazon.  But if you want to do similar on FB, I would suggest creating a short eBook with the first chapter and offer it as a free download from her site if they “Liked” her FB page.  It would have to include an opt-in to leave their email addr and name to get the free download.  Then she has a list to market to prior to the book release – especially if she created some kind of contest around it.  Perhaps an email to her list asking them in one paragraph to say why they should win one of the five free copies going out at book release and post that contest on her FB page.

  • Great suggestion from  @dcoville001 on adding the free download @johnmayers
We did a free chapter for the Facebook Marketing All-in-One for Dummies book and we still get a lot of optins for that.  Plus it’s a great way to give a sample of the book so that people know if they want to buy it.  Tim Ferriss (4 Hour Workweek) and Mike Stelzner (Launch) also did the same thing on their pages.  I do think that it’s better to have more of an “Author” page that can feature multiple products rather than a straight book page.  Guy Kawasaki said that he felt he wished he had done it differently with his Enchantment Page.

I would also suggest guest blogging and then having a link to the Facebook Page where you offer the free chapter.
Here’s the optin page we created with the Lujure App that offers the free chapter:  http://www.facebook.com/GetTheBook/app_138130786275055
Hope that helps!  Any other ideas from others?
