Facebook Ads – How do you pay for your client’s campaigns? (10 posts)

  • Hello,

    Quick question about Facebook Ads…

When you create an ad it will charge the credit card you have on file for the personal profile account you are logged in as. How do you pay your client’s ad campaigns without asking them for their credit card information?

I hope I am explaining myself correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Hi James,

    Very briefly, you need to:

    1. ask your client to make himself/herself a FB ads account
    2. ask them to fill in their payment (credit card) details, and then
    3. make you a user on that account through the Settings tab

Then you get the option to make an ads campaign for that specific client through your own FB profile, by selecting their account from a drop-down menu so they are charged and not you.

I have found this video, where this lady explains everything in detail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ozaq5MiQFM

Hope all this makes sense to you… :-) Good luck!

  • Thanks @kyros_v for the great answer and @jamesalonso for asking the question.

  • I just pay it and then invoice them. another option. The same as any business that buys a service or supplies a service and then resells it or undertakes doing it on behalf of a client.

  • Hi All,

I Totally agree with Scott  @scottlinklater, Most of my clients are coming to me for my expertise and don’t know how to create a Facebook Ads account. It is often much easier to use your account and then on charge them. The Facebook Ads interface make sit easy for you to bill individually and report statistics.

    RegardsJohn Mayers

  • @kyros_v Thank you so much for this info!

  • Yes – both ways work but I think having them pay is a better way to go – they then own the data later (rather than have all the stats be on your account)  and there is no worry about them paying late for a large ad campaign.

Maybe you could put together a step-by-step document on creating a new Ad account.

  • I completely agree with  @andrea-vahl and @kyros_v I would make a short video how to setup the account and this will also look like you are the authority and know what you are talking about. The main reason is to minimize your risk.

  • @scottlinklater and @johnmayers I still prefer the client paying Facebook directly. Two reasons:

    1. They feel more comfortable that they control the payment and that you have nothing to do with it
    2. You feel more comfortable that there is no risk you won’t get paid. One less thing to worry about.
And you can always talk them through the process of creating the ads account. Only takes 5 minutes.

But different people have different ways of doing things I suppose… Whatever works for you is absolutely valid at the end of the day.

  • @scottlinklater

Scott’s procedure is the best way to do it and there is very strong reasons why you would want to adapt this manner.

    Cheers Scott!

    Eddy
