facebook ads… (8 posts)

  • when  running a  facebook ad how  do you  choose  between  per click and impressions?

  • @annfurnivall Hi Ann

Do you mean physically how do you do this? Or do you want to know which to choose?

If the latter, I would stick with per clicks if you are new to FB ads. The reason I say this is that per click you only get charged when someone is interested enough in your ad to click it.

    Thanks,

  • i just wondered how others  chose  between the 2 ways..which  do  you  choose if  you  run  ads?  why?

..we have  run A FEW  100$$$  OF  Ads  over  the  last  few  months  and  can see it  both ways… we  are having a big  event   soon and  i think  we are picking per click….our  ads  are local  of  course…i can see  the point of   having  an  ad  seen  even if it  doesnt   get  clicked on…especially for us, a local place…

another  thing  i have to decide is  whether to   include our   fans in the  ads…there are a lot of them..one  way to look at it is  ,  .they will see the annnouncements   on  our  wall, in an email  and  pany  from a pst card  , so  dont need the facebook ads..

the other way to look at it is..they would  be   the most likely to  come  so why not   encourage them  by  letting  them  see the paid  ads…  i  can see it  both  ways…

@russellallert  so  those are some of  the  mysteries of  facebook  im working on…there  are so many  ways to look at  this stuff!!!  but its  so  good…. http://www.facebook.com/greenoakantiques

  • @annfurnivall If you’re planning an event, I would suggest adding in your followers as they would be the easiest people to convert (take the action you’d like them to, like attend the event) and there are a very low percentage of people that actually go back to your page after liking it, I believe it’s 90% of people don’t go back to the page.

If you’re targeting a local market, you could really go either way with cpc (cost per click) or cpm (cost per impressions).  Typically, cpc works best for most situations and is also often less expensive.

  • Well..just show ads for those who are not connected to the page. For the rest, post it on the wall…they will see it. They don’t have to return to the page as somebody mentioned here.
    Tell me what you think.

  • @iamconsulting  thanks  nicole..i think  we are  going  with per  click….

..im  pretty sure way more  than 10%  return to my page…remember im local, most of  our  fans  are  actually  customers i see face to face….we  connect  there  ….i get  about 10% actually  interacting on the page[the insight  charts tell me that]…and  im  sure most probably   dont bother to  actually post anything  or  interact…..

@vladiiancu thanks  …that sounds  good to me…..i dont  really need topay  for  clicks  from  my   base….

  • @annfurnivall  Cost per Click is usually the better way to go.  There have been reports that the CPC ads show up higher on the side bars (although I haven’t tested that myself) and since Facebook has a lower click-thru rate, you typically will get a lower overall click price by just paying for the actual clicks.

If your ad is performing really well and getting lots of clicks, you can switch it to a CPM.  And you may want to split test that aspect and see which type of bidding model works best for you.  Run one ad with the CPM, and then run the same ad with CPC and see which gets you cheaper clicks.

  • glad  to hear  you on that….thanks… @andrea-vahl
