    Hi, 

    I am managing a restaurant fan page in facebook which is also a facebook place so that people can check in and like the same page. However, there is an old place for the same restaurant and I cant seem to remove the old page. I cant “claim” ownership for the place because facebook is asking me to provide an email with the restaurant domain (and there isn’t such a domain) or phone billing document with the place’s name and address on it, but the phone is registered on the company’s name (the company that owns the place) and instead of address there is post office box number. I went to the old page and clicked on “report page” and chose “duplicate page”, but it doesnt seem that facebook is doing something with that information as the page is still on. How can I remove the old “place” from facebook?

    All you need to do it to claim it, merge it with the accurate one and the issue will be solved!

    @moinshaikh @andrea-vahl thanks fpr your notes. the problem is that in order to claim ownership facebook asks for documents that are not always easy to provide. Thanks anyway!!!

    @arikb99 :( sad to know this, in my opinion, you shall try to find out the actual owner of the listing of that place. can you provide both links here with correct and duplicate indication.     @arikb99 I have a similar situation. My client has a gift store and cannot claim her duplicate place name because the phone bill and other official documentation is in the main company name which is different than the gift shop.

    @moinshaikh @michellefontaine the weirdest thing happened to me today, I tried claiming ownership again for the page I wanted and FB didn’t ask for the documentations :) I can’t explain this as I have a similer situation with another restaurant with the same problem and it keep asking me for the docs I can’t provide, I wish there was support by phone for facebook…

    @arikb99 ~ Concerning phone bill verification . . . the phone bill may be in the main company’s name, but it should still show a physical address and phone number on the bill for that particular phone line.  Hope this is making sense.  For instance:

    XYZ Company owns several small businesses that it ‘does business as’

    ABC Giftsore is one of these companies.  Their address is 123 Main and their phone is 123-456-7891.

    The phone bill comes to XYZ Company but, within the bill, it will have physical addresses and phone numbers for each entity that it is paying bills on.

    So:  The Phone Bill + Paperwork filings for a DBA would prove ownership.

    @arikb99 ~ Don’t forget DBA filings, or even a voided check that shows DBA.  Our DBA checking account’s checks say

    Thorne Brothers Golf Operations
    DBA Old Town Golf and Sportland

    They will need proof of DBA for that business.
