Could a Business page ”Like” something? (11 posts)

  • Could a Business page “Like” something? If could be when is interesting and when is not?

  • I have “liked” companies through my business page on Facebook.  I usually do this through a connection I have made on LinkedIn or with a company that I do business with.

  • Hi @guilhermenassim, Yes business pages can “like” other pages and there posts, but I believe it doesn’t affect their metrics. You would just go to your pages admin panel, click manage, and the “use facebook as…(page name).” You could always interact with other fan pages that reach your target demographic.

  • But when is not good to Like something with a business page?

  • Caleb is right, you can do this and the other page will be notified that you ‘liked’ them. It won’t show up as a new like on the other pages Facebook insights.

  • @mattjham i don’t thing other page would get notified when you liked them as page. Means a page’s like to another page is not added to that page’s total likes.

  • @guilhermenassim  I  use the “Like” button like a strategic partnership tool. – If I know the page topic is something my audience would be interested in, then I like it. If the page subject something that my audience could use, then I like it. If the page subject is something that could use my services, then I like the page and foster a relationship with them. If the page subject has a readership/demographic that could use my services, then I like the page and foster a relationship with them.

I use the like button to further my viral reach. If a page doesn’t meet those criteria then I don’t like it.

  • Good summary @amyhallbiz – I often like a page as my facebook page – good relationship bulder as Amy pointed out…along with he other reasons!!!

  • I’m building good links with other FB business pages that relate to tourism in Baja California by liking from my page. Not only is this putting us on the map, it’s also providing me with excellent content to curate for our own fans, who wouldn’t otherwise have seen it.

  • @moinshaikh They do get a notification but you’re not added to the numbers of ‘likes’.

  • Yes. I agree with Amy and Kim. It does not affect a Facebook page’s metrics, but it does help to create strategic relationships. Besides, there are just some Fan pages that I want others to know my business likes, e.g., The Social Media Examiner, Amy Porterfield, Mari Smith. When a business provides so much value to my fans, I want them to know about it and I want them to know I know about these businesses, too.
