Converting friends to fans of an exisiting business page? (8 posts)

  • Hey everyone,

I am trying to convert friends of an old business user account (2,800) to the existing business fan page which currently has over 2,000 fans. I know there are ways to convert friends to a new business page but is there any way to convert them to a page that already exists? If so how do I go about doing that. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!
    -Matt

p.s. I have downloaded the account information files.

  • I think the way I would go about this, @mattcal is to convert the friends into a new Business page titled the same or similar to the existing business page and then Merge the two pages.  The Merge pages feature is back and can be done for pages that are the same.  There is no way to convert these people into fans of the existing page.  Hope that helps!

  • @mattcal Agree with  @andrea-vahl.First, covert account into page and then merge the page with existing page. Basic information like page name, address etc. should be same for both pages to get them merged. Also, the page with fewer likes will be merged into page with higher likes so the page having more likes will survive and the page with fewer likes will be merged into former one.

  • Awesome thanks for the advice @andrea-vahl and @moinshaikh! I have created the new page and now need to add an admin on it but it will not let me as the admin is the original email now — oy! Any ideas on this? :-)

  • Sorry, @mattcal I missed the follow up question!  I would suggest having another personal profile Like the Page and then adding that person as an Admin by looking at the New Likes and clicking Make Admin next to their name.  You’ll probably have to create a new personal profile if you want a new personal profile to be the admin and you’ll have to use a new e-mail address. The really tricky thing is that you may need a new cell number to create a new personal profile.  That’s been a recent requirement of Facebook.  It’s creating havoc for people doing this type of thing who don’t have 2 different cell numbers (they won’t even accept a Google Voice number – I’ve tried that)

    Good luck!

  • great topic, info and high commodity advice- WTG!

  • @andrea-vahl Thanks for the help! I think it was glitch with the admin, I was able to add another admin after a few days and added them by their email because their name wouldn’t work. Couldn’t have got it done without ya, thanks again!

  • Hello,

I merged our personal page to a business page and for whatever reason our personal page is now gone. Have you heard of a Facebook glitch when merging? I downloaded our info before merging, but there’s no option to upload your “likes”
