Converting a Facebook Place into a Facebook Page (5 posts)

  • I am working with a client who created its Facebook page as a “Place” rather than a standard fan page. It only has about 150 fans right now on this “Place” so I recommended a transfer to a fan page, which will be more representative of the business.
Is this conversion possible, or do I need to start a new page from scratch and lose the 150 fans? I’ve searched on the Facebook blog and Quora, but it seems this conversion is not possible…

    Help? ;-)

    Thanks in advance…

  • @fredericgonzalo As far as i understand, we inspire clients to create place page or at least create fan page and then convert it into place page so that their customers can check-in into the page when they visit their business center but this is relevant in case of specific business categories such as restaurants, hotels, salons, malls and consumer stores. Professional services and businesses may not have any importance of such places and such check-ins by customers. I would like to know your client’s business nature, whether it is consumer business like mentioned above or just a professional serving business.

If you still want to convert place into page, simply edit your page info: Change category into local business & places then choose sub category, save changes. For more info, read this : http://www.stuffedweb.com/change-facebook-place-into-a-facebook-page/ or continue posting question/issue here.

    Hope this helps!

  • Yes, if it’s truly just a Place icon, @fredericgonzalo then it looks like this:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Flatirons-Mall/233227300060434  If it looks more like a Facebook Page but has some checkins on it, then it already is a place combined with a Page.

If it’s the first case, you will first need to claim the Place, then create a regular Fan Page, then merge the two together.    Feel free to leave a link to it so we can take a look.

  • @moinshaikh @andrea-vahl Many thanks to you both for your replies. I actually found the answer at the link that Moin sent. So it worked out great – I only had to edit the page info and everything is now as it should be.
    Cheers,
    FG

  • Glad you found solution! Cheers! @fredericgonzalo
