Can you ’merge’ your personal page with your fan page or will they be sep? (9 posts)

  • Hi all,

I have had some good and bad news from FB.

I need to convert my personal page into a fan page – but already had a fan page attached with over 1400 likes.

Does anyone know if when I hit the convert button on my personal page if it will overwrite my existing fan page and create a new one with only the friends from my personal one?

I don’t want to loose, or mess around, the existing people who have taken the time to like my existing fan page… it seems from a quick web search that there is no ‘merging’ available which, would be ideal here.

I have written FB but no reply, anyone know about this?

Please help am about to do this shortly.

    Thank you.

  • @arty The answer to your first is – no it will not overwrite your existing FB Page.

The answer to your second question is – yes you can merge two pages. Here’s how http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=249601088403018&ref_query=merge+two+pages

    Good luck.

  • @arty  Here’s more information for you https://www.facebook.com/help?page=213602951994043    Be careful and backup your personal before you do this. Or even both of them.

    Thank you!

But am a little confused, if it is going to overwrite my existing fan page then how do I keep it in order to have it there to merge after the conversion process??

I would love to keep it then merge the two if possible?

Have backed up/archived my existing personal page. not sure how to do the fan page?

  • @arty when you convert your personal account to a Facebook you will then have two Facebook Pages.

you can then merge the two Facebook Pages into one.

I have already done it for many clients and I can do it for you if you’re really nervous about screwing it up.

You will end up with one Facebook Page with a total number of Fans equal to the number of friends you have on your personal account plus the number of likes you have on your existing Facebook Page.

You have nothing to be worried about.

  • @jorgenpoulsen

Yay that’s all I needed to know, so long as it doesn’t delete my existing page I’m happy. Can marge the two afterwards no problem. phew.

Just didn’t want to screw around all of my existing fans on the existing fan page is all. Afterall, they are the ones who have actually taken the time to like the page.

Thank you so much for your reassurance means so much, thank you, thank you.

  • @arty

step 1 – convert personal account to Facebook Pagestep 2 – merge the two Facebook Pages

the Facebook Page with the most Fans becomes the continuing page.

It’s working….slowly adding the likes to the total number, gave myself a heart attack at first when it said only 400…shish.

Other page is there also, will wait for full transfer of likes and then merge the other page. Excitement.

    New beginnings.

  • Hello Guys…
I just recently found out that I could merge my personal fb with my business and I understand exactly how to do it so I dont need any technical help.

What I do need are answers to a few questions after doing some research on the topic.

1.) I have over 5,000 friends on my personal fb as well as 2700 subscribers. I have 1400 likes on my facebook fan page so when I convert my personal page to a fan page (prior to merging both fan pages) will my subscribers convert as well?

2.) When the conversion is complete, will I be able to comment on my friends status updates and walls?

3.) Will I be able to create a new personal page after the conversion under the same account? If I cant comment on friends walls, I will need to add my dearest friends to a private personal page to interact with them.

4.) I read some horror stories on another blog that some people who converted from person to fan page only got a small fraction of the LIKES converted. It this something to be worried about?

Can anyone help me solve this puzzle?

    Thank you!!!
