First off I’m glad to be communicating with you again.

You have probably heard about the terrible storm that recently hit New York and the surrounding states. It is ironic but watching everything being played out on TV brought back memories about when the exact same thing happened to me in New Orleans.

Needless loss and hardship came about as a result of a lack of knowledge and unrealistic preparation for catastrophes. During my own ordeal in New Orleans my family and myself were trapped in our home for five days without electricity, gas, communications, food, water, working sanitation, and protection from human predators.

In situations like this, you have nothing but time on your hands to think about how you got into this situation in the first place. I did a lot of thinking and wrote a book about it but that is not why I am sending you this letter.

One thing that all of us have in common is the fact that all of us live on the planet and live on one of the continents. With the climatic changes going on in the world, weather related disasters have a higher probability of touching our lives in one form or another. This fact is more so true today than it was ten years ago. They can come in the forms of hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, avalanches, mud slides, blizzards, droughts, radiation, virus related, bacteria related, and insect related weather catastrophes just to name a few.

Hopefully, we will be able to inform other potential victims about the possibility of  harm and danger that could come upon them if they are not made aware of certain unknown factors.  Along with the preparedness, people need to avoid a nonchalant  thinking mode and at least give some thought to possible results that can arise from weather changes, People have to be made aware of what can happen to them with the changing weather patterns because events come quick and often without warning.

Actually no country or city is safe; Over the past ten years climatic upheavals have increased in frequency, duration, and global locations.

Here are a few examples:

Haiti’s earthquake in 2010 killed more than 200,000 people and cost $14 billion.

March 2011 Japan’s earthquake-triggered tsunami killed nearly 19,000 people and cost $309 billion

Hurricane Sandy will end up causing about $60 billion and as I write only 116 died.

Hurricane Katrina’s costs was $300 billion and 4,081 dead.

Sumatra, Indonesia 2004 a total of 227,898 people were killed and cost $15 billion
