Best and Least Expensive Way to Grow Facebook Pafe (12 posts)

  • Looking to learn from you GREAT minds out there! How can I best grow an FB page in the least expensive way. I am leaning toward utilizing Facebook ads, and if this is your take on the subject any advice on creating one would be so very appreciated – many thanks!

  • Fan Gate. Simply put, this is a special Facebook tab that displays one type of content to Fans of the page, and a different type of content to non-Fans.
Of course, you need to have a valuable incentive so that the user can be motivated to Like the page and have access to it.

  • Having a special welcome page or tab is one key ingredient to a successful page, when I started my company in last year I had nothing… first thing was create a special welcome tab with an offer and making sure I had valuable content on the page consistently.  Participating in groups not plugging my business just sharing knowledge.  Liking pages as my page not as my profile.  Then I started placing ads and it helped.  I am still working out the best formula to make them successful.  It really takes commitment, you do have to evaluate them every 2-3 days, watch your demographics and inactivate the ones that aren’t producing.  Set up 5-7 in one campaign to start  not all of them will produce, like I said I am forever learning so hoping this forum will help.  This is just my two cents, hope it helped!  =-)

  • It’s all about the relationships you create from your comments.   You can dress up your page all you want, but unless you can get your fans to interact with you,  you will not have any real success.

I have had success with Facebook ads, but find that I am now getting my best new fans as a result of my comments being shared on so many newsfeeds.  It is when our comments go viral that we are exposed to even more people who are interested in what we have to offer.

This does take a little time, but the results are amazing and real.  We create a fan base that knows, likes and trusts us.  This results in a customer base that will keep coming back for more.

Tabs are great!.  I have several on my page now for free gifts and am installing a shopping tab this week.

  • Great advice above.  The big key for real, long term success is to provide great and valuable content.  Without great content, people will come but won’t like and share.

With that said, a method i like to get people to like your page is to run a contest.  the better the prize, the better the results will be. But it can be done on a budget. You have to use a 3rd party app as per FB’s TOS.

  • I agree with @randithompson @mikebrooks on having valuable content being key.

Even if you have huge success with Facebook Ads or other promotions if your content sucks then you may have gotten a “like” but there will not be any future engagement.

Side note on contests:  Make sure your prize ties in with your page otherwise you may end up giving away a bunch of free stuff to people who don’t fit your customer avatar/target audience.

  • I am a beginner in social networking. We have a FB page that needs a lot of help for our business (handmade jewelry). What steps do I take first? What are tabs? How do I make a great landing page with valuable content for them to “Like” our page and share. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed since mainly it will be my job to do the internet marketing, not my husband. At the same time I am excited and ready to do what it takes to make it happen. Thanks for all of your help and advice, it is much appreciated.

  • @evanthiajewelrydesign It can be really overwhelming.  There is a lot to this.  But trying to learn it all at once can drive you crazy.

First thing to do, in my opinion is to give great information/content to your fans/followers consistently.  Focus on that first.

Next, try to get people to your page.  Go out onto Twitter and Facebook as your business and talk to other people.  Find people to connect with. Make comments on other people/businesses pages.  Add value and people will come check you out.  If they see interesting stuff on your page, they will want to like you.

My recommendation to you is do some thumbing around here as well as the main Social Media Examiner site.  You’ll learn a lot.

Make sure to go like Mari Smith’s page and then go to her free resources tab.  she has a section on how to stuff there that is great.  she’s awesome.

  • Thank you so much! @mikebrooks I feel relieved.

I have been reading your blog and it’s very informative and makes sense to someone like me who knows next to nothing, love it!  I also went to Mari Smith’s page earlier and will go back to it and read more in depth.

  • Hi everybody! And to add to the mix — if your customers or potential customers use their mobile phone to check Facebook — if they happen to see a post from you and then click through to your page — they will only see three tabs; Wall, Info and Photos. So all those custom tabs will not show up for them. This just means you need to post a status update with the link to the custom tab every now and again.

If you market off-line (in print) and use a link — think about using the direct link to your custom landing reveal tab (you’d have to shorten it) so people on their phones will go there instead of to the Wall. Or use a QR Code.

  • Share quality content. Engage like crazy.

These are the two things that I do to promote my copywriting service on social media.

    Share content
I am subscribed to hundreds of RSS feeds on topics of interest. This is how I keep myself updated with developments in my niche. It is also where I get ideas on what to write about. I write content for my own blog at least twice a week.

I have a number of social media accounts. I share content with these accounts at least once a day. Everything points back to my blog, where you will find my sales funnel.

    Always on engage-mode
The majority of my time is spent joining conversations. I comment on blogs with commentluv plugins, I join forum like these, and I interact with people and pages on facebook, as well as other social media sites.

The intention is not to spam, but to offer solutions and build rapport. I never sell them anything. What I want to happen is for them to come to the conclusion that I was able to help them with their problem. No strings attached.

As you can see, these activities will not cost you anything but your time and effort. Soon as you start getting more business, you can choose to outsource these activities, or scale them down to manageable levels.

  • Thank you to everyone for their advice, this is why this networking club is going to be a great resource for all!
