Authors on Facebook (6 posts)

  • Typically I write non-fiction books for a very small niche, so having a facebook page with 500+ likes in such a small niche (Reformed, Bible Christians) is a pretty good fan base.  I have recently branched out to include juvenile fiction for a launch that will have a sneak peak in Kindle tomorrow and the book’s release next week, so having put up a facebook page just a few days ago, http://www.facebook.com/WilmerP.Cohen

I was wondering from authors (and publishers), what have you found to work and what is not working for you?

  • Hi Jon,

You need to do a FB page for your book and then advertise your Book Facebook Page with the lowest cost settings Budget at $1 per day and CPM bid at 0.01 otherwise it will go through the roof cost wise and produce few sales. Also if it is a Kindle e-Book you can give it away for free and ask for reviews.

    Regards

    Eric

  • I actually don’t recommend doing a specific page for each book if you are going to write multiple books @ericsutherland

I think having an author page with the entire genre works very well.  The challenging thing is how to name them if you write in different niche’s.

I do think advertising works well @joncardwell with keywords in that niche.  Also participate in Goodreads or target people who are using Goodreads.  With juvenille fiction, you may need to adjust your strategy depending on the age group.

  • Thanks @andrea-vahl

I’ve been thinking of running along just those lines.  I have too many books running across several genres.  Even with outsourcing, an assistant and virtual assistant, I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with a fan page per book… in fact, it seems that if a book were popular enough, a fan might set that up for the book itself.

I haven’t thought to run an author’s page yet, but I am getting ready to transform the page from our publishing company to have the tabs offer general genres; and as we plan to publish a few more authors next year, we can have one tab cover all the authors, and a tab for each general genre.

Just thought I’d get some input as this is the place to get it for sure.

    Appreciate your insights.

  • You are on the right track. What I have found to works is having free publicly. You can see how I put this concept into play with a Facebook creation.

  • Do you have a website with all your books on it?  If so, have you thought about creating a tab on FB that leads to the information on your website?
