Are you in the Horse or Animal Business? Let’s connect! (12 posts)

  • Hello fellow animal business owners and professionals!

I have been delighted to see how many of us have found our way to the Networking Clubs.

Since we are all somewhat related, we might as well start connecting.

My name is Randi and I am best known for my work in the horse industry.  I became involved in social media in 2010.  You can see more details on my profile here.

Tell us about you?  What do you do in the world of animals?  How long have you been using social media?

  • I know there are others out there, @randithompson – Congrats on your wonderful page – weren’t you a finalist in our top pages last year?

  • Hi, Andrea @andrea-vahl,   Happy New Year!

Thank you.  Yes,  How to Market Your Horse Business was a finalist last year.  Being involved in the  Social Media Examiners “Top 10 Facebook Small Business Pages was a turning point for me.  We listened to what was being said, and we updated everything.

I am still getting a great deal of traffic from the Social Media Examiner.  At least 100 + per week!  Who would have thought that people outside of the horse world would want to see what we are doing!

I have talked in messages with people here at the SME Networking Club who are in the horse, animal, pet industrys.  They are not commenting yet, but hopefully they will join in with us soon.

  • Hi Randi -

I am new(er) to this club and found your post in my search for Pet Business.  I love your page on FB.  Congrats on being included in this year’s Top 10 SMB FB pages.

My SMB, Dog Pack Snacks, makes Dog Treats with no additives, preservatives or by-products.

    Great to connect with you.

  • @dogpacksnacks Hi, Debbie.  Good to see you here.  Thank you for the compliment on the HTMYHB  FB page.  We were honored (and surprised!!!!)  to win this years Social Media Examiners Top 10 FB Small Business Pages.

What an amazing world we live in!  I know there are more animal people here.  Not that you have brought this thread back to life, maybe we can get more to come out and play?

  • @randithompson @andrea-vahl I believe I watched your interview with Randi, Andrea! I was drawn to the interview on how to market your horse business as my biggest client is a teacher of equine facilitated learning through women’s retreats here in Asheville, NC. My favorite thing about freelancing has been the awesome opportunity to learn all about my clients’ businesses. Learning all about co-facilitation with horses has been some of the most interesting work. Her website for which I’ve done a lot of work on is http://www.eponaridge.com

  • Hi @Randi Thompson I’m a Safari Operator in South Africa (hope this counts as animal business :) we see the most iconic african animal almost on a daily basis.I absolute love social media and i think is a fundamental tool in the business industry in our days.www.unique-safaris.co.za

  • Awesome, @dawnchitwoodrivers!  That was a fun interview with @randithompson

  • @dawnchitwoodrivers  Hi, Dawn  I think what makes the difference is that so many of us love what we do.for our business.  Social Media was designed for us!   @andrea-vahl is a great host.  I enjoyed talking to so many different people.

  • Hi Randi!

It’s nice to see you looking for fellow horse and animal friends.  I’m actually a Virtual Assistant for Real Estate Agents-specializing in Online Marketing- but the last few years, I gave lessons and conducted horse camps during the summer for kids that go to my children’s schools.  It was successful but my two main horses got hurt and had to be retired from lessons. So, now I just ride (yeah!)

Just recently, I started a blog for kids to write blog posts about animals looking for homes at our local humane society and shelters.  We are still in the development phase but so many kids want to do something to help the animals and unfortunately our local shelters require the kids to be 18 years or older. So, our volunteers will have a meet and greet with a particular animal then they will write a blog and post pictures about it.  Then every blog posting will go out to social media.  This is our way of getting the kids helping the animals of our community.  If you have any words of wisdom, it would be appreciated.

  • @catherineschooling  I just saw this post….  Hi, Catherine  It sounds like you are doing great.  I like the idea of using blogs to promote the animals.  How is that working now?
