Apps display (5 posts)

Topic tags: apps
  • I have 14 Apps on my page, 3 of which, are facebook defaults – photos, likes, and maps. I know that I cannot reposition the photo app, however, I am able to reposition the likes and maps. Twelve Apps are revealed when fans click the down arrow. I have repositioned likes and maps to reside in position 13 and 14, so these are not visible to fans since we are limited to displaying just 12. When fans visit my page, the likes and maps are displayed in position 11 and 12, even though when I view it, they are displayed in 13 and 14. Is there any way to keep likes and maps in position 13 and 14 so they are not taking up space in the fan pull-down view and I’m able to use position 11 and 12 for more valuable Apps?

  • @mgoes

I am curious to see your page since I haven’t seen that many apps on one page – and know nothing about an answer. But I would guess that since those apps are default FB apps that they push them automatically into those spots.

If there is no remedy for your problem my suggestion would be to combine a couple of the apps – for example the map can be added to another page like the contact form?

I look forward to seeing the page!

  • I know that admins of a FB page can see a total of 16, but only 12 are viewable to all others. I guess you could rotate an additional 4 app pages in from time to time by repositioning them. You may also be able to use the specific link to an app page to draw traffic there even if it’s not viewable to the public in the drop down. I don’t have a page with more than 12 app pages (including the photos and likes pages) that I can test this out on, but it would be interesting to play with.

You can turn the Map off entirely under “Basic Information” in the admin of your page. That leaves you with the Likes and I do not think you can hide that at all. It’s interesting that you are able to place is in one of the last 4 positions though!

  • Unfortunately, those two apps are kind of a “default” app in that every page has to have the Likes and if applicable, the Maps, @mgoes  But I think the best solution would be to turn off the Map like  @clusterwebdesign mentioned.  The problem is that it won’t show up on the About page so if you did want it there, it wouldn’t be there.  So you really only have 9 available apps technically.

  • Thank you so so much ladies!  I followed your instruction and advice, so I now have 10 apps plus the 2 facebook defaults, photos and likes.  While I’d like to have more, I can certainly get by with these; I’m just so happy that I was able to replace the map with a business specific app.

@melissaholmes, if you would like to see the page, it is facebook.com/windmillcycles.  I am relatively new to facebook and to social media in general, and am so grateful to have this forum to seek help when needed.  I just hope I can return the favor sometime.  So, thanks again <a href="@andrea-vahl“>@andrea-vahl, @clusterwebdesign, @melissaholmes.
