App on Medtronics As Seen on 9 Businesses Doing Business on Facebook! (9 posts)

  • @mike-stelzner, @andrea-vahl,  Greetings!  I would really, really REALLY like to have an app like seen on the Medtronic facebook page, “Share a Story” discussed in the recent webinar.   I think you said they had it made?  I know you gave some general resources but do you know if such an app exists already or would I have to have it made?  Have no idea how much something like that would cost?   Thanks!!

  •  @pbcsky I am curious as to what app you are talking about?

  • @pbcsky Andrea or Michael may know better, but it looks like Medtronics had their own app written. I’ve seen something similar on Livestrong.com.

What about creating a form on FormAssemly or some other form builder and having it embedded on a Static HTML: iframe tab? Just a basic form like on Medtronics page, one that allows for a file upload for the image if so desired. I have designed a page in a similar way so that people can sign up for my newsletter on one of my tabs. It takes some basic coding knowledge or you can hire someone to do it, but it’s doable. There are lots of tutorials out there too that could help if you wanted to DIY.

I’ll be interested to see how the thread evolves and if there actually is an app that can be downloaded…

  • The Facebook Page that we mentioned is here:  http://www.facebook.com/medtronicdiabetes  and the App itself is here:  http://www.facebook.com/medtronicdiabetes/app_270452609718672

It’s a really cool app that allows people to share with the Page how they are using the insulin device and then Medtronic then publishes the information to their Facebook Page.  So they are kind of crowdsourcing their content.  This is a custom App that was developed specifically for them.   As far as how much it costs, I don’t know, @pbcsky – but I do know there are many app developers even in this forum that can price something out for you.  I think it would depend on what you wanted the App to do.

  • Thanks for your responses!

I don’t think I want to get in the app creation business along with all the other balls I am jugglin’ right at the moment.  So, if there are some app developers on this forum who could guesstimate the cost of this, I’d love it.  Shall I just post a request somewhere? On the main page?  Or do you know some I might approach via their profile?

  • That is pretty cool as an app. Funny, I was thinking this was a mobile app. Even got out my ipad, went to itunes and tried to find it. Daaa…

My sister actually works for Medtronics Diabetes. I just sent her an email. Perhaps we can get some insider info on this custom app. @pbcsky . If I do, I’ll post it here.

  • @michellefontaine @andrea-vahlI have to say this little Club of ours is super powerful. How cool to have these kinds of connections!

Please share what you find as several people were asking about this.

  • Looks like this app was created by  http://www.likeable.com/

Here is an article I found

    HTHGina

  • @michellefontaine @virtualgina

I just saw these responses and had traced it to likeable.com as well.  I’m going to post on the wider bulletin board to see if anyone on this forum could do it.
