Advertising on FB (4 posts)

  • Hi readers. I have 2 Q’s:

    (1)
If I transact sales on FB does the FB ad show prospects that it is linked to my FB page? Because my current FB ads link to my site. I’ll probably get higher CTR’s if people know they can stay in FB when they click my ad. Isn’t that the idea?

Would someone play devil’s advocate… I don’t see the need for a FB page for my business right now. Here’s why: To do it right setting up a transactional FB page having graphics and functionality on par with socialmediaexaminer.com is $1,000+. (I might be low). My cash is in inventory and increasingly broad web marketing of the set-and-forget kind. But I do have 10 hrs free a week. At least til the seasonality of my business starts to rip – around April 15.

Am I missing something about using a FB page? I have no followers to leverage, no stories, nothing but a website.

  • I’m not sure what you mean about transacting sales on FB  @pmarc – if you have a Facebook store it’s on your Facebook Page.  Actually I think I get the gist of your question – so you mean, does the ad reflect that it’s going to a Facebook Page or to an external website?

It does but it is a subtle difference that most people don’t understand.  Usually if there is an external site, it might say that just under the ad heading.  Some people might feel more comfortable if they were redirected within Facebook to buy something but others may feel less comfortable.

Devil’s advocate, it doesn’t cost that much to set up custom graphics like we have on Social Media Examiner, and you can set up a storefront yourself with an app like Ecwid or Payvment.  But if your website is working for you and doing everything you need it to, then you may not need to set up a Facebook Page.    Other’s thoughts?

  • No, no other thoughts. Thought there might be some mysterious value somehow.

  • Hi Folks, I am looking for a bit of advice with regards to refining a Facebook ad campaign which I have been trying for a few weeks. I am trying to get the best value for money by testing different variations of the ad.

Can you tell me am I right in thinking that if one of your ad variations has a higher CTR% but not necessarily the ad with the most number of clicks, should you be allocating more budget to the ad with the highest CTR or concentrate resources on the ad with the most clicks?

I hope I am explaining what I mean properly!
