Admin. of Several Facebook Pages Need Advice (10 posts)

  • Hi Everyone,

I am new in here and I have also just taken on a part time job where I am going to be admin. on several business facebook pages.

My question is this.. what is the most efficient way to manage my time? I need to do research for the posts to find the right information and pictures to go with the posts, then I have Hootsuite already set up for the one that I am already doing. It just seems to take so long to do 1 let alone the 4 or 5 more that I will be acquiring soon.

All suggestions are more than welcome.

    Thank You

    Suzy :)

  • Yes, sourcing the perfect content is the part that is most time consuming @blessedsc

I’m an admin of many pages.  What I do is come up with a list of content sources for each of them and watch those sources.  Then I have an overall editorial calendar for each of them – for example, Monday is an interesting YouTube video, Tuesday is a Hot Tip, Wednesday is your own article, etc.
Then I supplement with interesting articles that are from your content sources.

If you are also using Twitter for those Pages, I have a list of searches and hashtags I watch for each of these Pages so that I can see what people are talking about.

Hope that helps!  What are other people’s tips on sourcing content?  I know we have a lot of people who are admins of many pages.

  • I have over 100 Google alerts set up so I’m getting emails all day long with postable content - http://www.google.com/alerts

I also click “Home” as a page admin seeing shareable content from pages I’ve liked as a page

It’s been a general consensus in the EdgeRank community that 3rd party APIs are punished in Facebook’s EdgeRank algorithm ie Hootsuite: http://goo.gl/6jrhW so I stick with Facebooks scheduling function I keep a spreadsheet in Google docs: http://goo.gl/7MHPQ with all 3 pages where i simply strike through each page/date as I schedule. I try to do that once or twice a week so i’m always 3 or 4 days ahead - especially before weekends.

  • Thank you for the information.

Please keep the posting with ideas coming, so I am able to formulate what I am going to do to streamline my time in an organized fashion.

    Thank :)

  • @blessedsc  Thanks for posting these questions!  I just learned I am doing it wrong!

@andrea-vahl  Do you use any tools like HootSuite?

@mitch-rezman  Do you tweet directly through Twitter?
    Thanks everyone!
    Steve

  • I Tweet thru Pinterest – and blog rss

  • @blessedsc I only manage one Facebook page; however, I manage 2 Twitter accounts. I used Bufferapp and Hootsuite to manage the tweet flow. For Facebook, I used their own scheduler.

For content, I have industry emails that I subscribe too plus the Google alerts on certain terms. I also have bookmarked sites for when my regular sources don’t peak my interest. The content on FB is mostly different then what I tweet out.

Oh, for Pins, I just use Pinterest’s “Pin It” app in Chrome. LinkedIn is shares or direct posts though I could use Buffer or Hootsuite if I was out of the office a lot!

  • Yes I use Hootsuite but generally use it mostly just for the Twitter accounts I manage @stevecurran

Once in awhile I’ll use Hootsuite to post something to a Facebook account because it’s more convenient and then I’ll make sure it doesn’t have any Twitter lingo like @ or #.  I mostly use the Facebook scheduler if I need to schedule anything.

  • Ok, so tell me why you prefer to schedule using Facebook instead of Hootsuite.

I am confused, If I am managing several pages, wouldn’t it be easer and faster to use Hootsuite where it is all in one place, rather than have to go in and out of each individual account on Facebook?

    Thanks :)

  • @ Andrea,

So how long would you say it takes you to post a weeks worth of posts. If you were going to post say, 2 per day 5 days a week?

I’m trying to get an idea to see if I am just slow or what the average is compared to others for this amount of work.

    Thanks :)
