Adding a ’Like’ button to timeline custom app tab (7 posts)

Topic tags: like button, Timeline
  • Hi guys, With the ‘demise’ of the landing page in the timeline, i’ve seen some timeline pages that have a ‘Like’ button in their ‘Welcome’ custom tab when it opens. This’s a good way to get visitors to click to ‘like’ the page before they can access whatever freebie the brand is giving them.Does anyone here know how to create one ?

  • After posting my question above, i was thinking maybe the ‘Like’ button could be auto-generated after we publish our timeline page. I was viewing my ‘Welcome’ tab in my timeline page which hasn’t been published and it didn’t have the ‘Like’ button. Can anyone verify this please? Thanks.

  • Now the Like button will show on any of the apps, @louisteoh but it is in the Upper Right corner of the Page.  Look at Macy’s page and then click on the Win a Million App.   http://www.facebook.com/Macys  So if you are going to refer to the Like button, point to the upper right corner of the picture to direct people there.
You can also embed it in code in your Welcome Page but since it will be there anyway, why not just point it out?

  • @Andrea I think that @ Louisteoh was refering to the like button beside the message button on the Macy’s page.  I have not yet published our timeline page, and I do not see the like button next to the message button.  Does that automatically appear when you publish the page or do we have to figure out how to place it there?

  • @monica13997It is just one of the magical(?) things that happen when you publish your Timeline page.

  • Yes – @monica13997 and  @louisteoh  - sorry I didn’t see your tag from before, but you won’t see the Like button on your own page.  If you log out, you will be able to see that it’s there (but if you haven’t published your timeline yet, you will see the old layout).   That’s also how it was on your own Page before – you don’t see the Like button but it is there!
