Do you like Facebook? (10 posts)

  • I recently read that Facebook has the largest group of “dissatisfied customers.”  How unhappy are you to use Facebook and do you use it more because you “have to” to stay with the current trends?

  • I do like Facebook @matthewoneill :)  I think that many of the people who don’t like it aren’t on it enough and are confused when it keeps changing every time the log in.  But I think it’s amazing.

  • @matthewoneill i love it  for   business…. it fits my store  perfect and i  get  great   feedback  and   good  vibes  from   it  …i like my personal page too ..

. yes i find  some things  frustrating….like   figuring  out if i should   mess with ads or   whats  the  best  way…….but  im  fairly  hapy with  my  big  tab and ive settled in on  how much to post,i can  get around on it f airly  well altho  i knowi dont  get all the  functions  , but im  learning…….mainly im   real happy  with the  intereaction with my  customers….im a local  business…

i didnt  like   the timeline at  first  but now im  used to it…i liked   fans  better than LIKES…   but overall im very happy with it…and  hear  good  about it w ay more than  bad  from  friends  and  customers…

  • People who don’t like Facebook don’t use it so it doesn’t really matter, right? From a business perspective you have to love the insights data that is given. Email marketing never gave us a real indicator of what our clients “liked” but now they get to tell you directly.

  • @matthewoneill

I taught a Facebook workshop to adults yesterday and everyone shared one word or phrase that described their current feeling about Facebook. Only two of the attendees said, “Love it.”

Most people responded with words such as, Frustrated. Confused. Angry. Overwhelmed.

  • @matthewoneill I really enjoy Facebook both personally and professionally. I understand why so many get frustrated with all of the changes so frequent on Facebook and some usage unreliability but once those who get frustrated take the time to learn the functionality and how to use it best I feel they will also embrace it.

  • I have not been able to love Facebook. But I keep trying. Other people seem to love it so, I guess they can’t all be wrong.

  • @laurachristianson, I believe you but am a little surprised – especially since if that’s how they feel, why do they persist? It’s free after all. But I do understand their frustration. It’s huge and by the time you get used to one set of bells and whistles, they change them. So far I think all the changes have been for the better though. It’s almost like having a website without having a website. As you can tell, I like it – even though I’m far from using it to full capacity yet.

  • I think it depends on the business.  For example, a retail store probably benefits greatly by being able to send offers and announcements to their fans/customers. Businesses that offer an intangible service, don’t have a physical “store” or who don’t necessarily market to the same audience each time might not get the same benefit.

  • @stonepeople Patricia – You asked, if that’s how they feel, why do they persist?

In the case of my students, persisting wasn’t the issue. They were all just attempting to get started with a Facebook business page, so some of their comments were based on their experiences using their personal profile, or Facebook’s regular updating of its features, or on things others had told them.

My goal during the class was to help assuage some of their fears and to help them feel more confident about using Facebook.
