5 Predictions on How the Law Will Change to Keep up with Social Media (3 posts)

  • It goes without saying, our current laws are woefully out of date when dealing with Social Media issues.  Privacy concerns and litigation surrounding Social Media are constantly in the news.  These 5 predictions illustrate where the law needs to go to keep up.  Do you agree?  Do they go far enough?  Would love to hear your thoughts!

  • @kimkline  It’s an interesting issue for sure.  It think the added problem of having some Facebook posts private and some posts public just adds to the complexity.  I have an author friend who was recently a expert witness in a case that involved social media.  He was testifying about the social mobile technology.  Very interesting issues and I think the laws will always be playing catchup.

  • @andrea-vahl  I agree Andrea.  My business (background check services) looks at a lot of these laws closely.  One particular law has recently been passed that allows Facebook posts to be used as evidence in a court.  Law enforcement also uses Social Media to research known associates, affiliations (gangs and groups), etc. of people they have an interest in.

The private versus public issues are always murky!
