Wordpress Sharing Question (5 posts)

  • Hello :)

I have no problem with getting the share buttons onto a blog – that’s not an issue.

Awhile back I set up a new blog and when I configured the share buttons they appeared at the top and bottom of each post.  Huh.  So, then I removed them from the top of each post and just left them at the bottom.

NOW – I don’t know which blog it was and all the blogs are configured differently.

Question — How to add share buttons to the TOP of a post?  I’ve looked around several of the blogs today and (bummer) don’t know how I got those buttons to show at the top of the posts. It may have been a plug in on one of the blogs. But I don’t remember!  Sheesh.

Phil and I were speaking of this earlier today so I know he’s interested in this topic — HI @phil-mershon

  • @supereb Some plugins have the option to add it to the top and bottom of posts… I think Digg Digg and Sociable both have that option in their settings. As far as manual coding, people usually put it before the php call for the content.

  • HI @kristi-hines

That explains why I could not find it earlier today.  WP has so many different configurations depending on the situation that I get CORN-fused.  So many blogs to look in on sometimes makes my head spin.  Heh.

    Thanks Kristi!

  • @supereb I totally understand that. Someone once hired me to fix their social sharing plugin settings to be uniform across 15 blogs because they couldn’t remember where the settings were and how to make them the same. :)

  • I’m using the sharing function from Jetpack and I’ve managed to add the buttons above and below the post with a simple piece of code inside my functions.php

I’m using the Genesis framework but I think the code can work for all frameworks. Send me a message if you want and I’ll be happy to guide you through it.
