WordPress Plug-Ins – Have you tried these? (8 posts)

  • Hello Folks.

I read a lot of articles online (as we all do) and ran across this one that might be of interest to everyone here. You all seem to be really BIG on WordPress goodies. I’ve not tried all of these but am hoping some of you have tried at least a few.

    The Article:

10 Must Have WordPress Plugins Of 2012 Every Blogger Should Know About

1 – Which ones have you tried?

2 – Which ones do you need?

3 – Are these mostly NEW?

Also, hope the list is of benefit otherwise too.  :D

  • @supereb that list was complied by Jeff Bullas who knows his plugins..you can use any of these there all good. I am in the process of using the Hello bar (like that one) I dropped the all in one SEO plugin in favor of the WP SEO plugin by Yoast its better in my estimation.

  • Hi E N Brown,

The list contains all good and popular plugins. each are well know for there specific features. and i’m using almost all plugin on my blog…..

1- Digg Digg is good plugin for make your blog socially interactive… (I’m using it right now.)

2- Hello Bar – Good for getting attention of peoples (Used it in past)

3- Wp-touch – Good for making your blog mobile compatible…. (Using it on my other blogs)

4- WP total Cache – Good to reduce CPU usage and decrease the loading time. (Using it)

5- All in one seo (Good for seo..  But right now i got switched to WP yoast seo plugin.)

  • @ Paul Wylie  — Thank you – I have a variety of plug-ins at several client blogs and wondered if this SEO plug-in was better. You saved me the trouble!

@Romy Singh — I’m gonna try several of these, especially the wp-touch and for two personal blogs, the WP total Cache sounds great. Thanks!
    :D

1 – Which ones have you tried?

Sexy Bookmarks, also known as Shareaholic -  use it on many of my clients’ sites — very versatile

    All-in-one SEO Pack – excellent

Social Media Widget – also versatile

2 – Which ones do you need?

For blogs, I couldn’t live without WordPress Editorial Calendar. Great for giving you an at-a-glance view of the month’s posts, and for quickly dragging and dropping posts into different dates.

I also love Viper’s Video Quicktags for embedding videos. Really simple and intuitive.

  • @supereb read this thread. http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/blogging/forum/topic/some-useful-plugins-every-blogger-must-use-by-top-blogger-jeff-bullas/

reviews of the article you mention.

I always plug Reply Me, Broken link checker, thank me later, tweet old posts, widget logic

  • @jasonwiser

Yeah, I found that just after I posted this thread.  Between the two we’ll get some really good notes on what’s what, eh?

I’m not a WordPress guru by any means so this will help me find plug-ins that I might miss otherwise.

  • @supereb I could not live without Sexy Bookmarks and the All in one SEO Pack. Have not tried out the other ones. Just a quickt thought about floating bars like Digg Digg – I have used some with various WP installations and always had the problem of browser compatibility i.e. some weird old installations (like IE 6…) could not display those bars correctly.

Concerning your 2nd question, I never setup a blog without Akismet (spam protection), BackupBuddy (Backup, Restore, Migrate – both CMS and DB) Disqus comment, Google XML Sitemaps and Print Friendly.
