WordPress membership plugins? (11 posts)

  • Hi there. Looking for a few options for membership plugins for WordPress. Do you have any favorites that you use?

    Thanks!

    Patti

  • @pattitacardo-fousek Good question Patti. It depends on how complex you want that tool to be. If you want to have endless possibilities you might want to check WP membership that offers a free lite version and pro membership plans. However, I use to go with the Member plugin. Pretty basic, but has it all – and it’s free. If you are looking for something like SME, you’ll want to check BuddyPress.

  • Hi @pattitacardo-fousek do you mean members similar to this platform on SME? Or are you looking for paid memberships.I like MemberWing http://www.memberwing.com/ also Premise has a membership option now, but I have not tried that yet.http://getpremise.com/

  • @pattitacardo-fousek

I use the new Premise 2.0 that @ernohannink mentioned from Studiopress.  However, the link he provided is for the old Premise which does not have the membership capabilities.  It’s currently not for sale until I think next week unless you’re a Studiopress customer.  It will be $165 when it’s available next week.

  • @pattitacardo-fousek thanks for starting this thread.  I actually came on the forum to discuss this very issue.

Another one I’ve looked at, Wishlist.  Anyone else used / considered that?  Which of these are the best for a drip of information, ala automated ecourse?

    Thanks!

  • @nicoleafende MemberWing also works with dripping content.

  • Thanks for all the responses. I actually overlooked Member Wing. They’re website is very busy. They’re also one of the more expensive plugins.

Has anyone had any experience with s2Member http://www.s2member.com? It’s at the top of my list
    Thanks!

  • @iamconsulting  Premise 2.0 looks pretty cool.

  • @pattitacardo-fousek

It is.  It has a lot of really cool features.  I’m actually using it to build a membership site right now and have played with some of the other features including the various landing pages.  There are 8 of them that include everything from a basic landing page to pricing tables.

The one drawback I see for people that are not web designers is that the design is limited.  The landing pages are not automatically set-up with your website’s theme so they are very basic.  It does come with some design & style templates you can upload however for anyone that doesn’t have a background in web design…getting them to match the site is tricky.

I definitely think it’s a great plugin but would suggest getting help with set-up.

  • @ernohannink Thanks for the heads up.  Now its time to do a bit of reviewing and playing.

  • I used wishlist member a while back. not a bad solution.
