WordPress Handicapped Accessibility (multi lingual) (5 posts)

  • OK.., here’s a nice one for you.

I have a (corporate) blog. CMS is in English.., posts are in French or in Dutch (this is Brussels.., quite normal). All is well for most people.., but we want to have the AnySurfer label (accessibility for deaf and blind people).

I need to let a screen reader know which post is in French and which post is in Dutch (we do not translate or have a multi language setup).

Any thoughts or suggestions? A solution would be a bonus!

    Thanks in advance…

  • @rogiernoort I used to work for GW Micro, maker of Window-Eyes, a screen reading software package from the United States. One thing you can do is put in a 1 pixel by 1 pixel image at the very front of your blog post. Set the alt tag as “this post is in French” or “this is in Dutch.”

  • @erikdeckers That indeed is a nice ‘hack’. Zuck would be proud.., hihi.
I will take that into consideration.., still searching hard.., but nothing yet.., only full multi site solutions…

    thanks…

  • @rogiernoort  Have you tried Google Translate?  http://translate.google.com/translate_tools

  • @amyhallbiz It’s not the translation which is the problem. We chose to let our bloggers write in their own tongue. This would also be a somewhat correct representation of the demographics here in Brussels.

We use both languages simultaneous, not separate.., a ‘and’ situation, not ‘or’.
    Thanks though…
