Wordpress 3.4.2 (7 posts)

  • I just updated my website/blog to Wordpress 3.4.2

I started to write my blog post for the week and tried to insert an image and a link to a previous article.  Neither thing worked.

I logged out, logged back in (working in Chrome), logged in in IE8 with no success all from my desktop and then tried Chrome from my laptop with no success.

I feel like I went through this with the last update as well.

Any suggestions?  It becomes frustrating when the basic tools in the dashboard don’t work.

  • I deactivated NextGen gallery and the insert image worked.  So now a new gallery type plug-in would be appreciated.  I only really need it for one page on my site, so shifting to a full blown image theme would be overkill I think.

  • hmmm, I just got a message from GoDaddy reminding me to upgrade. What to do, what to do.

  • @deereinhardt as a rule of thumb it is important to keep your wordpress websites up to date to avoid making it too easy for hackers to get into your website. It is not the only security measure for WordPress, but the the most basic one that one needs to adhere to.

That said chances are the image problem is plugin related, often when a newer version of WordPress is updated older plugins become incompatible. Make sure when you chose plugins that they have a good record of being current with the latest WordPress version.

I would try wordpress.org forums they are pretty helpful in resolving. I am pretty sure if i could see the error, I could assist as well.

    Hi Dee.

I just did the same thing and had multiple problems. I finally consulted an expert I know (John Martin at martincircle.com) and he fixed the problems in less than an hour. Then today – he fixed another problem with the upgrade at another blog for me. IF I didn’t know John, I would have been completely stumped. Well, I was completely stumped anyhowsen!

His website is fairly new and I don’t think any of the links work as yet – SO, if you’d like to contact him, send me a private message here and I’ll give you his contact information. He’s a pretty busy guy but worked me in with no problems.

He also used ‘join.me’ so I could follow him along with all the changes (I was able to view his screen as he made the changes while we were on the phone) so next time, I might at least have a clue as to what to do!  Now that’s help I truly LOVE.

ALSO, be sure to tell him “Eileen Brown recommended you.”

    Eileen :D

  • I have had similar issues with previous updates. I de-activated all my plugins and then re-activated them one at a time. It was a tedious process.
Now I will go and update to 3.4.2 with fingers crossed.

  • @deereinhardt I always wait a while before I update. I let everyone else be the bug testers and after a couple of weeks I update.
