Topic tags: Tynt for blogs
  • Hello guys,

Hope everyone’s well…I am setting up my own website and i installed Tynt but i noticed i have extra code now on my URL : http://smeepy.com/#axzz2HeuKLWLr

Its this going to affect my website or anything? Please i really need help..

    Thanks you so much,Kris

  • The “tag” after your main URL is to identify the page and provide analytics.

    Here’s more FAQ… http://www.tynt.com/faqs.php#axzz2HmdmjKv0

    Hope this helps Kris! :)

  • @kris-calixton Wow, Kris! As long as you asked… uhhhhhh… that looks terrible! Why would they do that? Perhaps it helps provide analytics, but if that’s what people see… it doesn’t look worth it. If Glen had not said it’s for analytics, I would have had a hard time imagining a useful purpose for sullying up such a nice website name.

Glen, do you recommend this? Is this a good thing?

  • @glenandrews Thank you so much Glen. Yes is it for analytics and as what i learned it will backlinking stuffs by copy and pasting contents from your website. But i am just so worried about the extra code. Because i have that code on every url page on my website:( i am just concern. I think tynt’s purpose is great but i am in doubt with the extra codes:( Again Thank you so much.
@atlantarobin Thank you Robin, I really do appreciate your thoughts. Yes i am very worried. I think i will just remove it:( Im sorry for being such a noobish.I am the only Virtual V.A here in my city and i am learning from joining groups. I am really happy to join “social media examiner because finally i have someone to ask.

I just dont want to mess up my website because it means super a lot to me:)

    Thanks Guys,-Kris

  • I personally wouldn’t use it for the reasons (@atlantarobin) Robin mentioned.

I’ve never used the site, so I can’t say if the benefits outweigh the obvious cons.

@kris-calixton If you don’t feel good about the extra code being seen by everyone, I’d go with your instincts.

    Good luck Kris! :)

Hey, Kris… I thought about you the other day… wondering if you had set your permalinks to show your page titles after your urls. Some people don’t know to do this… so thought I should come back here… just to make sure you have your article titles in your urls, For example, here’s the url to a video tutorial by fellow SME Club networker Jason Wiser that I embedded from YouTube on my website:

    http://robincarlisle.info/transcribe-video-to-text-using-youtube-closed-captions-webination-station/
Otherwise, the url could be something ugly and not SEO worthy and prevent you from being easily indexed by Google:

See what I mean? Google can’t index that. And what the heckledoodles is THAT story about?
You could be a web programming genius, but just in case you’re not, just wanted to come back and clarify about the “look” of your url. Make sure your URL looks good to Google, but make double sure it looks good AND readable to your readers.

Woopsy, left out the most important part.

KEYWORDS… Make that title start with your most important keywords, sprinkled afterward with related LSI keywords (latent semantic indexing).

The purpose of any title on the internet is to entice a reader to read your article. However, in order to get seen by a potential reader, you must get that title indexed. If it’s a video title, then you’ll want to optimize the title for both YouTube AND Google, as a YouTube video can rank within hours and get you on Google’s first page a loooooooooooooong time before your article ever appears.

I ALWAYS make or find a creative commons video and title it similarly to my article, with the most important keywords first, followed by related lsi keywords, include the same words first in my description, and list those targeted keywords when doing SEO for that article or video.

If this is too basic, please forgive. We have a wide continuum of expertise in SME’s Clubs… and I always like to contribute to the discussion by filling in some of the gaps, if I can.

Hope this is helpful to you or someone else. :)

  • @Kris Calixton Tynt will still work without appending to your URL – you have to strip out some code it was pretty easy – I didnt care for it either.
