Who dat????? (5 posts)

  • I am building a new website/blogsite and have not really given the address out but I’ve had “knocks at the door” from a “visitor” from this link:
    http:// 36ohk6dgmcd1n-c.c.yom.mail.yahoo.net/om/api/1.0/openmail.app.invoke/36ohk6dgmcd1n/11/1.0.35/us_ftr/en-US-x-ftr/view.html/0

How do I find out if this is spam or how did someone find me? If they found me, how? The site stats don’t count my visits when I edit, right?

    Am I being stalked??? :) :)

(if you are wondering, my site is http://www.odeame.com)

  • @deairby Did you happen to email your new link to someone – looks like it is a link in a Yahoo email. Unfortunately, there’s no way to trace it. It could be something as random as someone who set up a Google Alert for any new website on “life coaching” (potentially to spam) that they receive at their Yahoo email address and they just keep revisiting your site until you put up blog content.

  • @deairby

I’d say @kristi-hines has hit the nail on the head. Make sure you don’t have your blog comments set to auto approve/post – that way you can filter the spam out before you allow the comments on your posts.

  • @deairby

I love “Reality Check Session”.  Great wording!

It does appear to be from a yahoo email account, as Kristi said, it’s more than likely some type of alert someone has set up.

You mentioned your site stats… If you’re referring to the stats in WordPress, they do count previews of unpublished work (when you click “preview post”) but it typically says that it’s from your WordPress dashboard when you look at the day’s more detailed info.  In Google Analytics, it shows up under direct traffic.

  • thanks, ladies @iamconsulting @camwilkes @kristi-hines
