Which blog name do you like better (13 posts)

  • I am launching a new blog and trying to choose between two names, Blogging Impossible and Blog Impossible.
Which do you think is better? I like to have a shorter name whenever possible but the longer one seems to sound better.
Also, if you could comment on what you think the blog is about just from the name alone that would be really helpful.

  • Blog Impossible I think. The title obviously suggests a play on Mission Impossible so you must be going to show how even the impossible can get done? Best in your blogging…

  • Thanks @stonepeople. I appreciate the feedback.

  • I agree Blog Impossible! I like that alot

  • Bloggion Impossible

  • Thanks @llreighard and @judithgotwald.

I am leaning towards using the name Blog Impossible.

The general idea behind it is to highlight and review/interview successful blogs that started out in a tough market/niche or with highly ambitious goals. For example, Nerd Fitness went into the very competitive and saturated health and fitness and still found success.

A second idea is to also do free blog makeovers. Have readers nominate and vote for blogs that want to be made over with new logos/themes etc…

Just thinking out loud. What do you guys think?

  • Hi @howwhowhen,

I actually like the second idea you had– free blog makeovers… the reason being that blog impossible or blogging impossible is rather kind of an impossible keyword phrase even on a quick search. Using the Google Adsense Keyword search your first two ideas had low competition but the searches were also extremely low.

Just a thought, and you certainly don’t have to do this, but have you also thought about targeting the blog review or blog makeover niche through a particular blog service; in other words, rather than having a blog that is generally covering all blogs, perhaps have the blog target Blogger specifically, which will certainly increase your SEO juice if you used Blogger Impossible… or WordPress Impossible (either .com or .org)… or TypePad Impossible, etc.

    Just some thoughts to consider.

    Cheers.

  • Thanks @joncardwell. I’m not too worried about keywords and the domain name. I just want it to be brandable. I like your idea of targeting a specific service. Using TypePad or WordPress in the name probably won’t work though as they are trademarks but I can still see it being used as focus to the site.

I guess this is a good place to ask. Is anyone interested in having their blog getting a facelift/redesigned with a new logo and premium theme? For free of course.

  • @joncardwell @howwhowhen

    I like Blog Impossible.

Definitely focus on WordPress… more customers… all of whom at least are use to paying for something… domain and hosting at a minimum. All others on freebie sites… will never upgrade or pay you for anything.

Hope you’ve already bought that .com . And yes, make sure it is a dot com.

Good idea… but get a really tight focus on WHO your buyers will be, WHAT it is that you will be selling to earn money, and HOW you will immediately gather those leads and build your targeted list as fast as you can.

    Just my thoughts…

  • Only downside… it’s better to have a shorter domain name. Maybe Impossiblog?
Sounds a bit French, too, lol.

Do YOU have an Impossiblog? Can’t do anything with it? Want some help? For free?

    Something like that…

    Robin

  • Downside alert!

After you fix their Impossiblog, now what? The name kind of locks you into a one-time deal. Why should they keep coming back?

    Just something to think about…

    Robin

  • I would maybe go BlogPossible – why impossible? Is it a mission impossible thing? Corny. If it’s not that, it comes as as kind of negative. Just my own opinion.

BloggingPossible if you say it fast sounds like BlogImpossible :-)

A redesigned website sounds appealing, especially for those less technologically adept. Sounds like an interesting project.

  • @howwhowhen i have gone this exact exercise several times.Good concept, although it seems a bit long. What i would do is run your ideas through the thesaurus.

this really helps fine tune your ideas until you get the feel you are looking for with the right words. I suggest you read this article too for further clarification:
