Where to host my blog – Any suggestions (4 posts)

    Hello,
    I am graphic designer/marketing consultant. I am in the process of redesigning my website. I am also looking to really getting into blogging on my website.
    Here is my question: Should I host the blog on my business website (www.companyname.com/blog or blog.companyname.com) or should I have it separate (www.blogname.com). What are the benefits to host it onsite vs. site of its own. I hope I am making sense.
    I have read how its best to have a catchy name for your blog, but is that even possible when the blog is on your companies site? 
    Any suggestions?

    Hey Brandon, I personally would attach the blog to my existing site as long as the blog covers the same information (www.companyname.com/blog).

    Obviously if the blog is covering different information, aside from your business, then I would set up a blog that completely separate (www.blogname.com).

    For branding purposes, I would go with http://www.yourdomain.com/blog UNLESS you are doing something totally different with the blog.  So, basically, I agree with what @glenandrews said.

    Definitely go with yourdomain.com/blog. Why double your seo and social media work when you are basically promoting one company? Use the subdirectories for subjects that are more remotely related, but that you still want to associate somehow with your company.
